Combining the bustling city of Dubai with the beauty and serenity of the Maldives – Dubai and Maldives is the ultimate two-centre holiday.
My husband turned 50 this year, so it was as good excuse as any to tick somewhere off the bucketlist! We decided on a family holiday to Dubai and Maldives and booked three-nights in Dubai with six-nights in Centara Grand Maldives.
The biggest surprise for me was how much there was to do in the Maldives. We were recommended by our travel agent, The Holiday Shop, to stay in Centara Grand Maldives because of it’s ultimate all-inclusive arrangement and the superb facilities for children. Centara Grand includes daily boat trips, scuba diving, even spa treatments in their ultimate all-inclusive arrangement, mind you I didn’t manage to visit the spa once! I had a $100 free spa-treatment each day and never used it because there was so many better options available.
We snorkelled in the crystal clear waters every day, ate delicious food and marvelled at the spectacular surroundings. The Maldives is like no where else I have ever been. We had an incredible experience, it is one of our best holidays to date and one that I can wholeheartedly recommend to couples or families.

While the Maldives was the main reason for our trip, we decided to combine it with a three-night stay in Dubai. There are so many things to do with kids in Dubai, so it was the ideal choice of destination to break the journey. We enjoyed a traditional Emirati breakfast, went on a desert safari, visited Atlantis the Palm Aquarium and waterpark, and got a birds-eye view of Dubai from the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.

I was asked by readers of my blog to source deals to Dubai and Maldives, so when Newstalk asked me to talk about my trip, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to share some travel deals with you.

What a first day in Dubai, talk about a city of contrasts! We had an amazing Arabic breakfast in the @arabianteahouse this morning and then went to the @burjkhalifa this afternoon. To go from old Dubai to new Dubai is quite startling – it’s really like two different cities. There is so much to do here, but a visit to the worlds tallest building, the Burj Khalifa is a must. I collaborated with @atdattractions who have tickets to the 125th floor for only €36! It’s located at the #DubaiMall and right beside the Dubai Fountain, which has displays every half hour from 630pm. We spent a half day exploring that whole area and had dinner there too.
