Treat yourself to a short break in Sardinia and enjoy white sandy beaches, a picturesque old town and of course amazing Italian food…
With a direct three-hour flight from Dublin and a short a 10 minute airport transfer, this short break in Sardinia can have you enjoying nice Italian food with a cocktail in hand, in no time!
You will fly directly into Alghero , where the medieval town is beautifully preserved, with cobbled stone streets, trendy boutiques and a great food scene. There is also a beautiful white sandy beach in Alghero, which is not something that many Italian resorts can boast about.
If you like designer shopping then take a visit the Costa Smeralda, if only to window shop and see how the other half live!
You might spot some celebrities while you are there, this is a very popular hang out for the rich and famous. If that doesn’t float your boat, take a trip to the neighbouring French island of Corsica and marvel at the stunning scenery – it is well worth a visit.
Fly direct to Alghero in May from €87 return from Dublin or €96 return from Cork. I have chosen two hotels as availability is limited, but both hotels are highly rated.
The Domonea is located in the historic centre with a small rooftop pool , it is no surprise it receives excellent reviews on TripAdvisor, and the Hotel Florida enjoys a beautiful seafront location just 800 metres from the centre.
The city centre is only 10 km from Alghero airport so you can be chilling at the pool within a half hour of landing!
If you prefer to travel over the May Bank holiday weekend, return flights for four nights are €132, and a four-night stay at the 4-star Hotel Domomea is €207 per person. Simply edit the dates via the link below to suit your requirements.Search flights here
