One of the main reasons families flock to Tenerife each year is to visit one of the world’s best water parks – Siam Park. There is a wide choice of slides here for kids of all ages. The Tower of Power and The Dragon will keep adrenaline junkies happy, while the Mhai Tai River and the huge wave pool, are great for all the family. Majorca is very popular with families. With short flying times and family friendly resorts, it’s not surprising Irish holidaymakers flock here during the Summer months. The Mariners Club is a highly rated self-catering apartment and is ideal for families looking for a relaxing holiday, without pool games and parties! There is a water park beside the complex for those who fancy some adventure and there is a large swimming pool, kids pool, playground and pool table on site. TUI have a wide range of holiday options along the Costa del Sol and Marbella is one of their most popular resorts. The beautiful old town of Marbella is full of shops bars and restaurants and you are also close to the stylish marina in Puerto Banus, if you fancy a change of scene.

Algarve: Self Catering Alvorferrias Apartments, €2144 

One of my favourite family friendly resorts, Alvor is the picture perfect Algarve village. With white washed buildings and narrow streets, expect a small selection of bars and restaurants, but all good! The long sandy beach here is superb with plenty of rock pools for kids to explore.  The Alvorferrias have been welcoming Irish holiday makers for many years. Although basic, they are ideal for families looking for good value accommodation within walking distance to the pretty resort of Alvor and the beach. The on-site facilities include a kids club, two swimming pools and an à la carte restaurant.

Algarve: All Inclusive, 4* Alvor Baia, €3389

The Alvor Bahia is a four star All Inclusive property which is highly rated on tripadvisor and offers something for all the family. The kids club, entertainment programme, sports facilities and pirate themed play area, will keep the kids amused all day long. If you fancy some quiet time, why not chill out in their spa!

Lake Garda: 4* Poiano Hotel, Half Board, €2982

Lake Garda is becoming more and more popular with families. Not only is it visually beautiful, but there are many activities on the lake for families to enjoy. Gardaland theme park is  also close by which is a great day out for all the family.

There is an Olympic-size swimming pool on site as well as a kids pool and a host of activities such as tennis, archery, beach volleyball and yoga. There is a kids club (5-12 years), restaurant and a spa as well with live music a few nights each week. You can hire bikes and cycle into nearby Garda or take the free shuttle bus, it is only 2km away. You will be staying in a junior suite which has lake view and balcony, with breakfast and evening meal included each day.
