I’ve hand-picked some of my favourite city breaks over Easter weekend. Each break takes place from Good Friday, the 10th of April to the 13th of April, and includes flights and highly rated 4 and 5-star hotels.
Walk along the medieval walls in Dubrovnik, take a gondola ride in Venice or chase the Northern Lights in Iceland, these are just a sample of my favourite city breaks over Easter weeekend – I’ve got ten here to tempt you. All deals are priced with flights and 4 or 5-star hotels. These are highly rated on TripAdvisor and centrally located to make the most out of your weekend break.
1. Dubrovnik – Croatia: €449pp
One of Europe’s most dramatic cities, I was awestruck when I stepped inside the old town of Dubrovnik. This walled city, although smaller than I expected, is remarkably well kept. In fact it’s almost like you stepped on to a movie set at times. When you walk along the medieval city walls (something you just have to do ), you will find, drawbridges and the most spectacular views. Sunrise and sunset are the best times to catch the light on the city’s terracotta roof tops, and make sure you ride the cable car to the fortress on Srd hill, for a panoramic view of the whole city. You will be staying at the 5-Star Valamar Collection Dubrovnik President Hotel which is highly rated on TripAdvisor and centrally located.

2. Venice – Italy: €349pp
The unique floating city of Venice simply has to be visited at least once in a lifetime. It is romantic, captivating and will inspire you at every corner. There are so many iconic sights, you will be spoilt for choice. Sipping a latte on St Mark’s Square and taking a gondola ride through the canals, both cost a small fortune, but simply have to be done! There are plenty of things you can do for free though. Visit the Basilica di San Marco, cross the famous Rialto bridge, or simply wander through the back streets and alleyways and enjoy every day Venetian life. You will be staying at the highly rated Palazzetto Madonna, which is superbly located to explore Venice’s captivating canals.

Situated on the Mediterranean Sea, with amazing architecture, mouthwatering cuisine, buzzing nightlife and excellent shopping – Barcelona has it all. Take a stroll along the famous Ramblas and watch the street artists perform, before stopping at a tapas bar for lunch. Take a tour of the famous Sagrada Familia Cathedral (I was amazed at its beauty when I stepped inside) and walk through the narrow streets in the Gothic Quarter. Barcelona is home to one of the biggest football teams in the world. and for any football fans a trip to Camp Nou will be high on the priority list. You will be staying at the 4-star NH Collection Barcelona Constanza. This is highly rated on TripAdvisor and is close to Barcelona’s top attractions.

6. Stockholm – Sweden: €214pp
Considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Stockholm is on the cutting edge of design, fashion and nightlife. There are multicoloured buildings along side sleek modern skyscrapers, it really is such an impressive sight. Stroll though the old town filled with cobbled stone streets, quirky shops and art galleries, experience the buzzing nightlife in the main city centre and be the 5th member of Abba in the world famous Abba Museum. You will be staying at the highly rated 4* Story Hotel, with breakfast included. Originally an old fire station and former City Hall it is one of the coolest places to stay in Stockholm. This is one of the best value city breaks over Easter Weekend, but you better be quick – this price won’t last for long.

The atmosphere in Berlin is almost palpable. Walking around the city you cant help but be taken by the enormity of what happened here. The Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, all the various memorials and the numerous museums are fascinating, even to someone who is not that up on her history! It is also renowned for amazing nightlife and must rival New York for the title of ‘the city that never sleeps‘. There are basement nightclubs, cocktail bars, craft beer houses and even beer cabins. You name it, Berlin probably has it. Bilbao is the unsung hero of the Basque country. Famous for housing the Guggenheim Museum and some of Spain’s best cuisine, it actually offers so much more. As you wander through the old town you can expect to see locals spilling out of pintxos bars (the Basque’s take on tapas), and it won’t be long before you start to soak up Bilbao’s fantastic atmosphere.
