I have been collecting Avios for 18 months and have now accumulated over 50,000 Avios. Initially I wanted to use my Avios to upgrade my upcoming flight to New York to business class (37,000 Avios), but as I was travelling with my husband and two kids, I thought it might be unfair to leave them in economy! Needless to say I still have my Avios and want to spend them! I was delighted to hear that I can now use my Avios to purchase hotel stays, car hire and experiences. 1. Use Avios to book flights:
You can use your Avios to book flights with Aer Lingus, British Airways or Iberia. There are so many variations, depending on when and where you travel, but 8,000 Avios points will get you a return flight to Paris with Aer Lingus. For 17,000 Avios you can have a return flight to the Canary Islands and if you can save 26,000 you can have a return flight to New York. Note these are based on off peak travel and exclude taxes and charges.

2. Use Avios to book hotels
Avios can now be used to book over 100,000 hotels worldwide, from boutique independent hotels to major chains.

4. Use Avios for travel experiences and activities

5. Use Avios to upgrade your flight
Travel in style and use your Avios to upgrade your ticket from economy class to business class. Enjoy a fully lie-flat seat and luxury dining and arrive at your destination refreshed. The amount of Avios required to upgrade your existing booking varies by route and date of travel. Currently a one-way upgrade from Dublin to New York, Washington or Toronto with Aer Lingus is 37,000 Avios while Los Angeles, Miami or Seattle is 46,250 Avios.

6. Use Avios to part pay for Aer Lingus flights
This new initiative from AerClub is a game changer! It doesn’t matter if you have only accumulated a few hundred Avios, you can still use them to pay for Aer Lingus flights. In one simple transaction you can use your Avios to pay for flights online or via the Aer Lingus app. Your discount options will depend on your Avios balance and the total cost of your journey. You can use Avios to discount your entire basket price when booking, including flights, baggage, lounge passes, seats & meals.
