Top 5 South Africa Holidays – Prices from €1699pp

Explore Cape Town and the Garden Route, go in search of the Big 5 in Kruger National Park, travel on one the world’s most luxurious trains, or combine South Africa holidays with Victoria Falls or Mauritius.

South Africa is one of my favourite holiday destinations. We spent our honeymoon there and loved it, so much so, we returned with the kids a few years ago. South Africa holidays offer something for everyone to enjoy – I mean where else can you combine one of the world’s most iconic cities with wonderful wildlife, stunning beaches and adrenaline pumping activities? And let’s not forget the wine – that’s pretty good too 🍷.

Dining out and activities in South Africa are such good value too – this is partly due to the Euro being so strong against the South African Rand. So don’t be put off by the prices of luxury game reserves, (trust me they are worth every penny), the initial outlay will balance out when you see how reasonable prices are locally.

Planning South Africa holidays can be a little daunting. The country is so diverse, with so many top attractions and activities, it is impossible to see them all. But don’t panic, I have teamed up with long haul specialists Tropical Sky, who offer a wide selection of package holidays to South Africa and beyond.

Tropical Sky’s Africa specialists can curate the perfect holiday to suit your needs, whether that is combining Cape Town with a stay in the Winelands, a luxury safari, or even a trip to Mauritius, they can arrange it for you.

1. Cape Town and the Winelands from €1699

One of the many advantages of holidaying in South Africa is the time zone – it is just 1 or 2 hours ahead of GMT, so you will not experience any jet lag. This means you can pop down to South Africa for a short break and simply enjoy Cape Town and the Winelands.

This super trip starts with a four-night stay staying in the heart of Cape Town at the Waterfront Village. I stayed in these apartments on my last visit and loved the location on the V&A Waterfront, and its spacious rooms. If you are looking for family holidays South Africa, these apartments are the perfect choice.

Visit Cape Town’s top attractions, including Table Mountain, Robben Island, and the Cape of Good Hope, before travelling to nearby Stellenbosch, for a three night stay at the Spier Hotel, which ranks in the top 100 vineyards in the world.

2. Cape Town, Garden Route & Eastern Cape Safari from €3649pp

While South Africa may be home to some of the world’s best beaches and the captivating city of Cape Town, the highlight our our trip on both occasions was the safari. It is hard to explain just how magical it is seeing incredible wildlife in their natural habitat. We were hooked after our first visit and went to Tanzania the following year. My children loved it too, and are always asking when we can return.

This iconic South Africa road trip has all three, Cape Town, beaches and safari and is similar to the itinerary we took a few years ago.

Knysna is known as the Jewel of the Garden Route, its lagoon location is home to popular outdoor cafés as well as gorgeous beaches and forests.

Your final stop is Kariega Game Reserve, for a luxury safari in the Eastern Cape, where you will stay for your last two nights, with morning and evening game drives and all meals included in the cost.

A safari on the Eastern Cape is a great introduction to safari holidays because the reserves aren’t nearly as vast as other areas and malaria tablets are not required in this area.
