Best lisbon hotels for city break

May Bank Holiday in Lisbon, Flights & Hotel, 3 Nights, €319pp

A beautiful coastal city renowned for terrific sightseeing and a great food scene, spend the May bank holiday weekend in Lisbon and enjoy one of Europe’s best city breaks.

Lisbon is one Europe’s top city break destinations, and after my recent visit I now know why! It has a beautiful old town – there are pastel-coloured buildings with terracotta rooftops as far as the eye can see. Lisbon is very easy to navigate too, but if you don’t fancy walking it, there are fantastic old trams that will bring you around all the highlights.

The food scene is superb, and a visit to TimeOut Market is a must! I loved Lx Factory too, an eclectic mix of restaurants, bars and shops all in one great open space.

There is plenty to see in Lisbon itself, but if you want to travel, you can take the train to the coastal towns of Cascais or Estoril, or explore the UNESCO World Heritage City of Sintra, and its palaces, castles and museums.

I have chosen the popular Hotel Gat Rossio for those who want a cheap but central stay in the city, the price is just €199 for a three night stay.

If you want a more luxurious hotel, the 4 Star LX Boutique Hotel  is also centrally located in the centre of Lisbon and is rated as Excellent on TripAdvisor. Price for a three-night stay here is €303 per person.

Want to bring the kids along? A family stay in the top rated  OnJ S. Lazaro Lisboa is €813 including breakfast for a three-night stay. Airfares and hotels will be even less if you can travel mid week  – simply edit the search dates when  you click on the link below.
