We stayed in Breaffy House Hotel last summer and had a wonderful experience. There is a large swimming pool and spa on site, and you are just 20 minutes from the coast. Mayo has some of Ireland’s best beaches and there is so much to see and do – if time allows, I suggest you extend your stay!

9. The Royal Marine Hotel, Dublin, Seaview Room: €95pp
I stayed in the Royal Marine Hotel last summer and love how it close it is to Dublin city, yet has a seaside holiday feel. There are gorgeous walks along Dun Laoghaire Promenade and Pier, and who knows you might get tempted to swim in the 40ft?
If you just want to relax, you can do that too – the hotel has a health club and indoor pool, as well as a choice of dining options in Hardys bar and the Dun Bistro.
