15 Family Breaks During Christmas & New Year – 2 Night Stays from €268!

I love a post Christmas break, it is the perfect way to finish off the festive season. I had many requests looking for family hotel deals in Ireland between Christmas and New Year, while others want to be away for New Year’s eve. I have highlighted both below based on two-night stays in hotels and holiday homes, however, if you have specific dates in mind, or need change the duration of your stay, simply edit the search dates to suit your requirements.

 It is important to point out that all hotel facilities may not be in operation. I recommend booking a room with free cancellation, incase there are any changes to facilities, or you need to cancel your booking at the last minute.

We stayed in Breaffy House Hotel on a few occasions, and love it family atmosphere and superb facilities. It is situated on 101 acres and there is a spa and swimming pool on site. It is also a great base to discover to some of Mayo’s top attractions, including Westport, Achill, Croagh Patrick and DownPatrick Head.


I fell in love with Mayo’s beaches, and if you fancy cycling, the Great Western Greenway is only a 30 minute drive away.

This unique hotel was once an old railway station. It has been beautifully restored and manages to combine the old brick and native oak with modern furnishings. Its location in the upmarket town of Clifden is ideal for anyone who wants shops, bars and restaurants close by, but also wants to get out and about and explore the rugged coastline of Connemara.


The four-star, two and three-bedroom apartments are a great choice for groups or families. All guests get full use of the hotel facilities including the swimming pool and leisure facilities.

The Maldron Hotel is a great value choice for a families looking to explore all that Wexford has to offer – there are so many things to do in Wexford with kids.


The hotel restaurant has a special young diners menu, and family activities usually run during school holidays. Guests have complimentary access to the leisure centre with its 20 metre swimming pool and kids pool, and there are two outdoor playgrounds and a mini-golf course onsite. Large family rooms cater for up to to adults and 3 children with interconnecting rooms also available.

The Park Hotel is located in one of Waterford’s prettiest towns, Dungarvan. We loved cycling the Greenway during our tour of the Munster Vales, it it one of Ireland’s top outdoor attractions for families.

The Maldron Hotel is ideally located in the heart of Belfast City and is a popular choice with families. There is a restaurant and bar on site and deluxe family rooms are bright and spacious. Price for a two night stay based on two adults and two children sharing is €268 on the 28th of December, or why not stay for New Year, price is €337 arriving on the 30th or 31st of December for two nights.

    • Hi Louise, if you edit the child ages on the links or select four adults, you should be able to get the exact prices. Most the rooms that hold 5 should take 4 adults, like the Inn at Dromoland or Claregalway Hotel – both very good value.
