So why choose a family break at the Midlands Park Hotel?

As well as offering superb value, the Midlands Park Hotel has earned itself the reputation of being one of the best hotels in Laois. It’s stylish decor is both modern and elegant, there are a host of amenities onsite, and its location is ideal for exploring Laois, Kilkenny and Kildare.

The reviews from previous guests are excellent. In fact it is rated the top hotel to stay in Laois on TripAdvisor, and it is also a Travellers Choice winner this year. In case you still need convincing I have highlighted some of the key facilities below:

1. There is an award-winning Leisure Centre onsite

Midlands Park Hotel swimming pool

The Midlands Park Hotel’s state-of-the-art Leisure Centre boasts a 22 metre swimming pool with hydrotherapy features, such as an Over Head Curtain, Volcano Jets, Umbrella and Martini Seat. There is separate kiddies pool, as well as a sauna, steam room, two jacuzzi hot tubs, and a fully equipped fitness suite.

2. There is a kids club!

You will be delighted to hear that the Midlands Park Hotel’s kids club will be in operation for the October mid term break. Activities are available from 5pm – 9pm and include post-card making, krispy bun making, cookie decorating, nail painting, face painting, movies, fancy dress, sing-a-long and arts & crafts. See full timetable here.

3. There are lots of family-friendly attractions close by

Irish National Stud

The Midlands Park Hotel’s family activity breaks include a family pass to the Japanese Gardens and Irish National Stud, Birr Castle, Lullymore Heritage Park, or an hour’s bowling for up to six people at the Roll and Bowl Centre in Portlaoise.

There are many other family-friendly attractions close by, including Kildare Maze, Emo Court & Gardens, and Castlecomer Discovery Park, which is home to Ireland’s longest zip line and a host of other amenities – we visited last year and had a blast!

Castlecomer Discovery Park is one of the top things to do in Kilkenny with kids
Castlecomer Discovery Park, Kilkenny

If you prefer to explore the local countryside, why not rent bikes and cycle along the ancient towpath at the Grand Canal and River Barrow. Laois’ top attraction, The Rock of Dunamase is also a must visit, and offers stunning views of the countryside.

4. There is a choice of dining options available

Charter Bar & Eatery, at the Midlands Park Hotel

The award-winning Kelly’s Steakhouse, the casual Charter Bar & Eatery, and Triog Restaurant all offer extensive children’s menus. Their family activity breaks include a 4-course meal at either Charter Bar & Eatery or Triog Restaurant, or an allowance towards dinner at Kelly’s Steakhouse.

5. There is a choice of family rooms available

Midlands Park Hotel, family room

Whether you prefer to have separate beds for each child, a separate camp bed, or a double sofa bed, this can be arranged directly with The Midlands Park Hotel. There is a number of rooms that can sleep up to two adults and three children, under 10 years. All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, mineral water, complimentary WiFi and 24-room service.

6. Adults are well catered for too!

Spa at the Midlands Park Hotel

As well as the superb facilities available in the Leisure Centre, the Midlands Park Hotel is also home to Jules Spa. After relaxing in the jacuzzi hot tub, why not treat yourself to one of the many beauty treatments available in their Therapy Suite. Special offer at Riverside Park Hotel, Wexford.

I had the pleasure of staying in the Riverside Park Hotel last summer, and was delighted when they got in touch and asked me to showcase their autumn breaks. The Riverside Park Hotel is located on the banks of the River Slaney in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford.

While my visit was a family stay, I think its choice of dining options, lively bar, and leisure centre on site, make it a great choice for couples when kids are back in school.

Prom Bar at Riverside Park Hotel

The hotel is ideally located if you want to get out and about and explore Wexford. With 275km of coastline, beaches are without a doubt some of Wexford’s top attractions – and the stunning Curraloe beach just 19km away.

The world’s oldest working lighthouse in the world – Hook Lighthouse, is definitely worth a visit, and you should check out the new coastal walk from Arthurstown to Duncannon on the same peninsula. If adventure is what you seek, sea-cave kayaking with the Irish Experience is a good choice.

The Travel Expert’s Best Tavel Deals 6th July 2021

best travel deals_opt (1)

This weeks best travel deals include summer holidays, winter breaks, cruise holidays, summer holidays in Ireland, and early booking deals for 2022.

I have some amazing offers in my best travel deals this week! I have summer holidays in Santorini and Spain, the October bank holiday weekend in Lisbon, adult-only winter breaks in Gran Canaria, New Year in Lanzarote for families, overnight escapes in Dublin and family staycations in Clare – for this summer, and early booking deals for 2022 – including an amazing cruise offer and a weekend Vegas!

It is important to be aware that each country has their own entry requirements, and these can change at any time. Most countries require non-vaccinated people to produce proof of negative Covid tests on arrival. Some require PCR tests, others will accept Antigen tests, and child ages vary from country to country.

InstagramIt is also vital that if you are vaccinated or have recovered from Covid that you have proof of this. We have been told that the Digital Covid Certificate should be available to us by the 19th of July, but have to wait a little longer to be able to access this information.

Most countries require passenger locator forms to be filled out in advance of travel – in some cases these have to be done 24 hours in advance. I have some advice and tips in these posts that you may find useful, but please be aware that travel restrictions can change at any time. Always check the latest updates with your airline or travel agent before you travel.
