St Lucia For Romance, Adventure And Family Fun

jademountain-saintlucia5_opt

Palm fringed beaches, crystal clear waters and dramatic tropical rainforests. The Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic ocean, old plantations and modern resorts, waterfalls and watersports, St Lucia has it all.

Although known as one of the most romantic Caribbean islands, St Lucia is not just for couples. It’s mountainous terrain makes it ideal for adventure sports, while families love the all-inclusive resorts, numerous watersports and rainforest adventures. I holidayed in St Lucia with my husband and we absolutely loved it. There was so much to see and do, I would highly recommend a visit! Here are my top picks in St Lucia for romance, adventure and family fun.

St Lucia

Romance

St Lucia and romance go hand in hand. The combination of palm fringed beaches and tropical rainforests make it the picture postcard island. Try scuba diving or snorkelling in the Caribbean Sea, take a hike through the spectacular rainforests or bathe in the Toraille waterfall.  Treat yourself to fine dining at Cliff at Cap Restaurant and enjoy a sunset cruise Caribbean style. St Lucia is the perfect destination for a romantic getaway.

Where to stay: – Rendezvous Hotel

For the perfect romantic beach hotel, it has to be Rendezvous. This adult only, boutique hotel is situated on two miles of white sand beach. It’s all-inclusive too, so you can relax on a sun lounger and have the fantastic staff bring cocktails as often as you like! There are two swimming pools, a jacuzzi and a spa. Renowned for its superb cuisine, this classic hotel can do no wrong.

Nature & Adventure

The iconic twin peaks of the Pitons are practically asking to be climbed. The larger of the two, Gros Piton is the easier to climb and is worth the six hour round trip. The views of St Lucia and the Caribbean Sea are stunning and it is also the cool thing to do when you are there! If hiking is not your thing try a segway or island buggy tour. Visit the colonial plantations in the south of the island, try a volcanic mud bath and end your tour with a bathe in the Toraille waterfall.  If you are staying in the north, The Babonneau rainforest near Rodney bay is a great day out. Try their zipline and release your inner Tarzan! Watersports are plentiful too, with snorkelling, sailing and kitesurfing being the most popular.

Where to stay: – Jade Mountain Hotel.

For a once in a life time luxury experience it has to be the Jade Mountain hotel. One of St Lucia’s best hotels,  it is located on a hilltop offering stunning views of the Pitons and the Caribbean Sea. This this a nature lovers paradise. Your room, or sanctuary as they like to call them has a private infinity pool, no TV and even WiFi is only available if requested. If escapism, romance and luxury is what you seek – look no further.

St Lucia

Family Fun

St Lucia is a great choice for a family holiday in the Caribbean. The calm Caribbean Sea is perfect for snorkelling even with small children. Kids will see the colourful fish and marine life in the shallow waters. Depending on where you are staying you can book a day trip with equipment rental included through most hotels. Dolphin and whale watching tours are a great choice for day out. Teenagers will love the many ziplines available through the Rainforest Adventures. Most have a minimum age of 12 or height restriction of 50″ but the Treetop adventure park includes a mini course with suspended bridges for younger kids.

Where to stay: The Coconut Bay Resort.

The Coconut Bay Resort is an ideal choice for families. There is a dedicated family wing which has it’s own waterpark, complete with lazy river and a host of slides. The Cocoland kids club is perfect for kids up to age 12 and there are plenty of on site activities and entertainment for all ages. The petting zoo has interactive zones where kids can pet and feed the animals. There is a separate adults only area in the hotel so you can chill out and relax while the kids are happy at the waterpark. Just sign in and sign out using a local phone and your kids can contact you at any time! The all-inclusive arrangement is great for families too, kids can help themselves to drinks, ice creams and snacks during the day.

St Lucia

I think it’s fair to say that St Lucia is one of the Caribbean islands where everything is possible. Young or old, thrill seeker or beach lover, St Lucia safely ticks all boxes. For more details and advice on resorts, contact the experts at Tropical Sky.ie . Their staff have visited the hotels and will recommend the right hotel for you.

Koh Samui, Thailand, Flights & 5* Luxury All Inclusive Resort, €1579!

mai-samui_opt-1

Forget about the paradise beaches, the English meaning of Ko Samui – ‘safe haven island’, makes you want to go there…

Koh Samui is one of Thailand’s most popular islands for tourists yet it has managed to stay authentic. It attracts trendy students and upmarket couples and thankfully, not as many rowdy crowds that descend on some of Thailand’s other islands. Stunning beaches, amazing restaurants and lively beach parties are what it is renowned for but if you look a little closer you will find lots of traditional villages with local food stalls, pretty temples, rainforests, waterfalls and even some deserted beaches. A visit to Ang Thong Marine National Park is a must. Complete with 42 islands, some mountainous, some jungle clad, and some with hidden coves just waiting to be explored. When you arrive back at your hotel, a Thai massage will be greatly appreciated 😉

Koh Samui

Speaking of which, the luxurious 5* Mai Samui Resort offers many pampering spa treatments, as well as three swimming pools and a host of on site activities. Take a Thai cookery class, try water yoga or if you are feeling energetic try mountain biking or sea kayaking. The beauty of the Mai Samui Resort is that meals and drinks are included in the price. Enjoy personal service from their excellent staff who will cater for your every need.  There is a choice of three restaurants plus light bites served at the Sand bar ( how cool does that sound?) For a full list of what is included click here. Enjoy a sundowner at the swim up bar or beach bar – did I mention that Koh Samui has the most amazing sunsets!

Koh Samui

This traditional Thai hotel is perfect for anyone who is looking for a luxury hotel in a secluded area, with fantastic facilities. It receives excellent reviews on tripadvisor as well as quotes like ‘dream holiday’ and ‘paradise’!  Tropical Sky are offering an amazing deal for anyone who books 5 nights – you can get the same number of nights FREE! They have deals available from €1,519 for a seven night stay in the winter months and €1579 next Summer. All prices include flights, hotel on an all-inclusive basis, transfers, baggage, all taxes and assistance while in resort.

Barbados Baby! 1 week Flights & 4 Star Hotel, All Inclusive, €1599!

beach-261572_1280_opt

Barbados is one of my favourite islands in the Caribbean. It has stunning beaches, great night life and so much to see and do, it’s not surprising people come from all over the world to live here. Experience it yourself this summer with a choice of two amazing Barbados deals from Tropicalsky.ie

There are so many different nationalities living in Barbados that you feel like you belong as soon as you step off the plane. Everyone speaks English and they even drive on the same side of the road as us! Speaking of which, you can drive around Barbados in a few hours, it’s a lot smaller than you might think. Barbados although perfect for a romantic holiday, offers so much more. The island is full of interesting sights, the night life is excellent and the water-sports are second to none. It is home to some of the best surfing in the Caribbean but if that’s not your thing, you can go swimming with turtles instead! For more info on Barbados read my blog here.

Barbados, Sarah Slattery, The Travel Expert

There are two sides to the island that are sold widely from Ireland. The lively South Coast is home to the capital, Bridgetown and is where the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet. The West Coast is quieter and offers a calmer more relaxed vibe. This is where the islands top hotels are located on the crystal clear Caribbean Sea.

I found two amazing deals staying in the exclusive West Coast but without the expensive price tag! The ‘adults only‘, 4* Sugar Cane Club is rated number 1 on tripadvisor and receives excellent reviews. It is a steal at only €1,599 per person in May, June, July or August. You will have a specious one bedroom suite, a choice of swimming pools, a gym and a spa to unwind after all the hard work 😉

Barbados

If you fancy bottomless cocktails,  a choice of dining options, free water sports and plenty of on site entertainment, then the all-inclusive Almond Beach Resort is the one to choose. Also situated on the West Coast, this beach front property is actually next door to Sandy Lane! You just have to pop by for a look – sure it would be rude not to! I stayed here a few years ago and had a fantastic time. It’s a great place to try lots of new activities that you may not normally try, like paddle boarding, kayaking or reef fishing. They even offer glass bottom boat and speedboat rides, and all of these are complimentary!. They have plenty of land activities too including tennis lessons, yoga classes, golf practice range, gym and even beach cricket (well it is Barbados)! There is nightly entertainment and a weekly beach party – the overall vibe here is fun! There are two restaurants on site, (including the one in the pic below) and the all-inclusive package also allows you to dine in the nearby Sugar Cane Club once during your stay.

Barbados

The Almond Beach Resort is highly rated on tripadvisor and is priced at €2089 per person, including flights, accommodation on an all-inclusive basis and transfers. This price is based on travelling in September or October but there are plenty of other dates available, just check in with the sales team in TropicalSky.ie or click below.

5* All Inclusive at the Moon Palace Jamaica Grande, €2059!

gorgeous-1303903_1280_opt

Palace Resorts offer some of the best all-inclusive hotels in the Caribbean. Until 2015 they only had hotels in Mexico, but they bowed to demand and opened their first 5* luxury hotel in Jamaica last year!

Situated right at the water’s edge, with nothing in front of you only immaculate white sandy beaches and the blue waters of the Caribbean, the Moon Palace Jamaica Grande’s setting is perfect. This modern resort offers the highest standards in service and quality and has everything you need for a fun filled Caribbean holiday.

Moon Palace Jamaica Grande Resort

Like all Palace Resorts the all-inclusive arrangement is excellent and is available 24 hours a day. No need to check what drinks are included here, they all are, well maybe not 200 year old scotch but you get the idea! Johnnie Walker black label, Grey goose vodka and good quality wines, are all included, either in one of the five bars, or in your bedroom! The dining options are superb and Palace resorts are renowned for their high quality cuisine. You can choose any of the six restaurants which feature American, Mexican, Italian and Pan-Asian cuisine, and all are included in the price of your stay.

Moon Palace Jamaica Grande

There are lots of activities included too, try sailing, snorkeling or test your surfing skills on their surf simulator. The icing on the cake is when you book seven nights at the Moon Palace Jamaica Grande you automatically get a whopping $1500 resort credit! How amazing is that! This can be used for spa treatments, motorised water sports or one of their tours. The hotel has their own dolphin habitat so why not use your resort credit for a dolphin swim? Click here for more details.

Moon Palace Jamaica Grande Resort

One of the things I love about this resort is that it’s only five minutes from downtown Ocho Rios. Once a small fishing village Ocho Rios is now one of Jamaica’s most popular tourist resorts. This is also where most of the cruise ships are docked and is a bustling town with an international vibe. You are also next door to one of the island’s most popular tourist attractions, Dunn’s river falls. This waterfall is unlike any you have seen before, and climbing the 600ft to the top, just has to be done! If I can do it, so can you! There are lots of other day trip opportunities in Jamaica. You can go horse riding in the sea, river rafting on the Martha Brae river, or my personal favourite, take a trip to Negril to watch the sunset from the iconic Rick’s cafe!
 Moon Palace Jamaica Grande

Fly from Dublin to Jamaica and enjoy a seven night all-inclusive stay from only €2,059 per person. For a limited time receive an additional $1500 resort credit! This price is based on departing the 25th of September, but Tropical Sky have amazing offers at the Moon Palace Jamaica Grande Resort throughout the winter and for Summer 2017.
