From Cork to Donegal, Kilkenny to Kerry, I’ve got 20 self catering breaks in Ireland this summer, and many have pool access!
It appears 2021 will be another year of staycations, and holiday homes are already proving to be very popular. I have had many messages from people who are looking for self catering breaks in Ireland in July and August, so I have duly obliged and picked out some that might suit below. All have received good reviews from previous guests, and have flexible booking options. I also found some options with access to swimming pools.
I have priced these self catering breaks in Ireland for three-night stays in in July or August, but dates and durations can be changed to suit your requirements, simply click on the links below and edit the search dates accordingly.

1. Catherine’s 3-bedroom Cottage with pool at Ross Castle, Galway:
Various dates in July & August – 3-Night stays: €1355
Catherine’s Cottage is one of three, three-bedroomed courtyard cottages at Ross Castle. All cottages have access to the grounds and gardens of the estate, as well as the indoor heated swimming pool, billiards room, tennis court and the lake with boats.
Catherine’s cottage offers all modern comforts including underfloor heating, but also retains a rustic charm with exposed wood and repointed stone walls. With Connemara, the Aran Islands and the Wild Atlantic Way close by, this is a super location to explore Ireland’s west coast. 2. The Mullins: 2-bedroom apartment on Mill Park Hotel grounds, Donegal
3-Night stay – 21st July & 18th August: €483
An Airbnb in Donegal, with access to a swimming pool is a rare find! This super two-bedroom apartment overlooks the Mill Park Hotel and is less than a 10 minute walk from the town centre.
Two guests will have access to the hotel’s pool, gym, jacuzzi and steam room, and children under three are free. If there are any additional guests sharing, a charge will apply payable directly to the hotel. The hotel also has a restaurant and bar.
3. Carrick Plaza Suites, Carrick On Shannon, Leitrim,
Various dates available July & August
2-bedroom apartment €597, 3 bed apartment: €837
Located in the heart of Carrick-On-Shannon, these modern two-bedroomed apartments sleep up to six, and three-bedroomed apartments sleep up to eight. Both boast panoramic views over the River Shannon. Take a cruise along the river, and enjoy Lough Key Forest Park and the Blueway Waterpark which are located 15 minutes away. The apartments are only a few minutes walk to the centre of this vibrant town.
4. Castle Oaks House Hotel, 2-bedroom Courtyard Apartment with pool access, Limerick:
3-Night stay: Various dates July & August: €569
Set in 26 acres of grounds, and beautifully situated on the banks of the River Shannon, this Georgian Manor House Hotel is a great choice for a family staycation.
The Courtyard Suites are located just a one minute walk from the reception area. There are two double bedrooms with a spacious living area and kitchenette. Guests can enjoy access to the hotel facilities including breakfast in the hotel restaurant for a small supplement, and access to the River Leisure Club and pool.
5. Kilronan Castle 3-bedroom Home with pool access, Co. Roscommon:
17th July – €703, 8th August – €656
This three-bedroom home enjoys and enviable position on the grounds of Kilronan Castle Estate. This stunning hotel is surrounded by 40 acres of grounds on the shores of Lough Meelagh. It is also located just 20 minutes from one of Ireland’s best adventure parks – Lough Key Forest Park.
Guests have access to the hotel swimming pool, spa, and gym, and the house all all mod cons including a 40 inch smart TV for cosy nights in.
6. Clayton Hotel Sligo, 1 bedroom family suite with kitchenette & pool access:

Set on beautiful grounds overlooking Benbulben Mountain, yet within walking distance of Sligo Town centre, the 4-star Clayton Sligo ticks all boxes for a family holiday in Ireland. The leisure centre has a separate kids pool, there is plenty of entertainment to keep the kids happy throughout the day. The suites at the Clayton Hotel have self catering kitchenettes and sleep up to five.
7. Nire Valley Eco Camp, Waterford, Glaming Pod,
3-night stay, various dates July & August €528

Some of you may recall we stayed in Nire Valley Eco Camp last year when we visited the Munster Vales. This is an ideal family break if you get away from the city and get close to nature. There are only 5 eco-cabins and all have acres of space around them, with beautiful views of the Comeragh Mountains. The cabins are beautifully decorated and a delicious breakfast basket is delivered to your cabin every morning. Pets are also allowed.
8. Staycity 2-bedroom apartment, Dublin Castle,

A new edition to the capital, this aparthotel offers the benefits of apartment living, with the comforts of a hotel stay, in the heart of Dublin. Rated number 1 on Tripadvisor, this is a great place to stay in Dublin, with all the city highlights right on your doorstep. This apartment also happens to be wheelchair accessible.
9. Rathmullan Village Apartments, Donegal,
3-night stay, various dates July & August €660
Located just 300 metres from the beach at Rathmullan, these modern village apartments are well equipped and offer free WiFi. These are a great base to explore the Donegal coast line, its amazing beaches and the Slieve League Cliffs.
10. Lorna’s holiday home, Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare,
3-night stay, various dates July & August €807
Lorna’s Apartment receives excellent reviews and boasts a private garden, patio and sea views. The two-bedroom apartment has beaches nearby and its is only 13 km from the popular seaside town of Lahinch.
11. The Towers, 2-bedroom Apartment with pool access, Westport, Co. Mayo,

The Towers Apartments are located right in the heart of Westport harbour and guests can also make use of the local swimming pool. Westport is a great base to explore Mayo’s gorgeous coastline, and you can cycle the Great Western Greenway all the way from Westport to Achill Island.
12. Jamestown Court 2-bedroom apartment, Salthill, Galway,

With a superb beachfront location in Salthill, these modern apartments have stunning sea views and are beautifully furbished. With Galway city, Connemara and the Wild Atlantic Way on your doorstep, these will surely be one of the most popular options for self catering breaks in Ireland.

Located in the heart of Killarney, this modern two-bedroom apartment has all the benefits of self-catering, with the added advantage of hotel’s facilities. With Killarney National Park, the Ring of Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way within driving distance, the possibilities for day trips are endless.
14. St Anglea’s 3-bedroom apartment, Sligo,

If you want to explore the Wild Atlantic Way on a budget, then look no further! Anglea’s apartment boasts free WiFi, an onsite gym and views of theof Innisfree. 15. Tower View Lodge, 3-bedroom home, Ennis, Co. Clare,

Tower View Lodge is a three-bedroom holiday home located five-minutes drive from the popular town of Ennis. It boasts a large garden and a private patio, and is ideally suited to a family. With the Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty Castle and the Wild Atlantic Way just a short drive away, it is a great location for a family holiday in Clare.
Available 3-night stays available at date of publication are between 11th – 17th July, 1st – 7th August, 14th- 21st August.
16. Johnstown Estate, 2-bedroom home with pool access,
3-night stay various dates July & August €627
Johnstown Estate is the ideal choice if you want a luxury break that is close to Dublin and the Boyne Valley. Set within 120 acres of stunning parkland, this 1750’s Georgian residence has extensive leisure and spa facilities, golf and horse riding, as well as a choice of dining options.
The two-bedroom self-catering lodges are perfect for families or groups who want to enjoy all the hotel’s facilities but enjoy the benefits of spacious self catering homes. Each lodge has a separate dining and relaxing area, a 43” smart TV, a terrace that opens onto a green with a small children’s play area, and a parking spot. 17. Montenotte Hotel, Cork, 2 bedroom Apartment with pool access:
Various dates in July & August, 3-Night stay – €1050
I have heard so many great things about the Montenotte Hotel, which has been recently refurbished and and offers stunning views of Cork city. With a state of the art leisure centre, an in-house cinema and this cosy outdoor terrace, it is one of the most popular places to stay in Cork.
There are various room types available but this price is based on a 2 bedroom apartment that sleeps up to four. Note standard rooms may show when you click on the link, but once you select a room you will see the option to choose apartments.
18. Hotel Killarney, Family suite with kitchenette and pool access – sleeps up to 5:
22nd August, 3-Night stay – €522
As well as being located in one of Ireland’s prettiest towns, the Hotel Killarney boasts a leisure centre, kids club and lots of outdoor activities. These large family suites sleep up to five and come with a kitchenette and dining area.
19. Penthouse apartment at the Heritage Hotel, Co. Laois with breakfast & pool access
3-night stay, various dates July & August €947
The luxurious Heritage Hotel boasts a leisure centre, award-winning spa, an 18-hole championship golf course and a choice dining options. You will be staying in one of the five luxury penthouse apartments which are beautifully furnished and have a balcony overlooking the golf course. Breakfast is also included in your stay.
