I was a travel agent for 24 years before deciding to become a travel writer and start my own travel website in 2015. I have visited more than 50 countries both as a single person, with my husband (before the kids arrived) and now as a family of four! So it’s safe to say I have most travel scenarios covered! You can rest assured that I would never recommend anywhere unless I have personally visited there or had feedback from honest and very reputable sources. This is my personal blog so you will only read an honest appraisal of places that I have visited and experiences that I’ve had.
Travel has changed so much since working in a typical travel agents and when I started booking holidays for clients many years ago. The ‘typical’ package holiday has evolved as people seek more and more choice and experiences whilst away. I know when to book a ‘package’ holiday and when to book flights and hotels separately, when to go to a travel agent and when to go it alone, this only comes with experience.
My personal clients came back to me year after year to book their holidays for one reason only – I get it right! My experience and knowledge has led to slots on TV3, RTE radio, Newstalk and Today FM where I discuss various holiday deals and travel tips for their respective viewers and listeners. I have been acknowledged as one of Ireland’s top travel bloggers in the Huffington Post. The Travel Expert was a finalist in the Irish blog awards, the Eir Spiders digital technology awards and the Accenture digital media awards. I am particularly proud of these achievements in such a relatively short space of time!
I hope you will find The Travel Expert website both interesting and informative and that it becomes useful to you when planning your holiday. Your feedback is always welcome so please submit your comments on posts as your advice, opinions and criticisms is always greatly appreciated and I read each and every one! So whether you are interested in a week away in Europe, a shopping trip to the States, advice on planning your honeymoon to somewhere a little more exotic or any other travel related query, l will try to have a post for you.
