Porto is one of the oldest cities in Europe and has a medieval feel to it. Why not choose some where different for a city break and try a weekend in Porto.
We enjoyed a weekend in Porto last year and loved it! This city looks almost medieval with colourful buildings everywhere, I was genuinely amazed at how beautiful the city was. The Ribeira district is a Unesco World Heritage site and is full of local wine bars, restaurants and colourful buildings close to the waterfront. Enjoy a glass of wine or a meal by the river and soak up the atmosphere, for a fraction of what you would pay at home. In fact Porto of late has become one of Europe’s top food destinations.
You wont find any celebrity restaurants here, but lots of local eateries serving traditional Portuguese food, at rock bottom prices. Renowned as the birthplace of port, there are also numerous wineries offering tastings and tours. There are plenty of good places to go at night time too, with bands playing in various venues across the city. Read why you should choose Porto for your next city break here.
I stayed in the superb NH Collection Porto Batalha Hotel. This modern hotel with excellent service is right in the heart of the city. We found it perfect for exploring all that Porto has to offer. Read my review of the NH Collection Porto Batalha Hotel here.
