Spa hotel breaks always sounds expensive, but they don’t have to be. I have selected four and five star hotels that are all highly rated on TripAdvisor, and are located across the island of Ireland. With thermal suites, infinity pools and luxury treatments, Ireland’s spa hotels are among the best in Europe.
I have priced most of these spa hotel breaks based on overnight stays during October, but if the dates don’t suit, simply edit the dates when you click on the links below to suit your requirements.

Farnham Estate’s multi-award-winning Spa boasts a large indoor pool, an outdoor infinity pool, mud chamber, ice fountain, forest walkways and a wide selection of treatment options.
There is also an 18-hole golf course, superb dining options and 1300 acres of grounds for you to explore. Try the fine dining restaurant The Cedar Rooms which was awarded 2 AA Rosettes for its high quality ingredients and culinary execution . A stay in Farnham Estate will feel like a real treat, as it has one of the best spa retreats in Ireland.

BrookLodge is set in its own unique village and is one of Ireland’s most loved hotels. It is famous for its delicious organic food – in fact it won Hotel Restaurant of the Year and Culinary Hotel of the Year, but is also renowned for its Spa and Wellness experiences.
The Wells Spa is an adult-only Spa that offers treatments from organic product ranges such as Voya and Babor. The Redcastle Hotel offers superb value to explore the Inishowen Peninsula. However, with a waterfront location, 9-hole golf course and Thalasso Spa, you may find it difficult to leave.
Make sure to seek out Kinnagoe Bay and Mamore Gap, two of Ireland’s true hidden gems and spend some time exploring Malin Head. You could also combine this relaxing break with a trip to Derry city, it is less than 30 minutes drive from the hotel.

Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa Hotel is a wonderful choice for a wellness break in Ireland. It is located on one of Ireland’s best beaches, and is one of the only hotels in Ireland with a Thalassotherapy pool – where water is pumped directly from the ocean.
I stayed here last year with my sister and loved the beach walks and relaxed atmosphere in the hotel. I also had a detoxifying seaweed bath where water was pumped directly from the sea. It was heated to 34 degrees to open my pores so I could absorb all the nutrients and minerals from the sea. Complimentary yoga classes on the beach are also available. A new Rooftop Experience has been added to the already impressive Thermal Suite, and there are 15 treatment rooms, including a Rasul mud and mineral treatment chamber, a hydrotherapy pool and a couples room.

I live very close to Dun Laoghaire and love the gorgeous walks along its promenade and pier. If you just want to relax, you can do that too – the hotel has a health club, Spa and indoor pool, as well as a choice of dining options in Hardys bar and the Dun Bistro.
The impressive Thermal Suite boasts heated marble stone beds, rock sauna, dry flotation chamber and mud chamber, and there is a wide variety of spa treatments available.

Located in Killykeen Forest Park on the shores of Lough Oughter, Cabu cabins are a great choice for families or friends looking for wellness holidays in a forest setting. The log cabins and houses are scattered throughout the woodland and there are both traditional and contemporary cabins that suit families and couples. Pets are also welcome in some cabins.
The Nature Spa has an outdoor hot tub and sauna, and you can enjoy spa treatments or a Japanese bath in the woods. You can also go kayaking, fishing and enjoy forest walks.
There is a bar, a Sitooterie, which has an open fire and has barbecues on selected evenings. Cabu Cabins offer a luxurious wellness experience in the forest, with the benefits of hotel facilities on site.

17. Galway: 5 Star g Hotel B&B, Dinner, Drinks from €108pp
The popular G Hotel & Spa is Galway’s only 5-star city hotel. This modern hotel had a million euro makeover recently and is a great choice for a luxury overnight escape. I stayed here last year and loved its bold design and lively atmosphere. The spa with Thermal Suite is superb too, but make sure to book it in advance.

Galgorm Spa and Golf Resort is arguably the best wellness hotel in Northern Ireland. Set within 163 acres of parkland with the River Maine flowing through the estate, it has all the feels of a secluded hideaway, yet is only 30 minutes from Belfast.
I stayed here during a very cold spell in January and I loved it. I felt like I was in a wellness resort in Austria. The outdoor Thermal Village along the river is the showstopper, but although relaxing, it has a lively vibe. Check out my Instagram Highlights to see more.
There are heated pools, hot tubs, plunge pools and saunas, and you can even order cocktails from the hot tub – there is QR code on the side so you don’t even have to leave! For the ultimate wellness experience, pre-book a private riverside hot tub experience.

We enjoyed a wonderful overnight stay at Druids Glen a few years go. Its close proximity to Dublin makes it an ideal choice for a short break for Dubliners, or for anyone looking to explore Wicklow’s highlights.
Glendalough, Powerscourt and Brittas Bay beach are all within 20 minutes drive and Druids Glen has superb facilities on site too – including an 18 metre indoor pool and Spa.
Prices are particularly well priced for five-star hotel too, with overnight stays available from €212 per room in July.

If you want to experience one of the best wellness hotels in Ireland, you must go to Monart. You won’t find sports facilities or nightly entertainment, but you will find Ireland’s only Destination Spa Hotel.
When you arrive you can slip on your robe and never don clothes again until you leave – many people even dine in their bath robes! It is one of the most relaxing hotel stays I have experienced, but you do need to plan a quiet night to experience it at its best.
Monart Midweek Haven is €570 per room is based on two sharing during midweek and includes breakfast, dinner, spa access, classes, and one 30 minute treatment – massage or facial.

This Palladian manor dating back to 1732 is one of Ireland’s newest 5 star hotels. There are just 42 bedrooms at Cashel Palace, as well as a luxury Spa, and a choice of Michelin star or bistro-style dining options.
Their Solo Sojourn package is ideal for adults who want a luxury escape on their own. It starts with a selection of glossy magazines or newspapers provided upon arrival. Dinner can by enjoyed in the atmospheric snug at Mikey Ryan’s, so you can enjoy the buzz of the main bistro without being in the centre of it. You can also choose in-room dining if you prefer.

We stayed in Lough Erne resort a few years ago and loved it. It’s stunning location on a 600-acre peninsula was just one of the reasons, the top quality food and service were others. It caters equally well for couples and families and offers a host of activities including two Championship Golf Courses and a unique Thai inspired Spa.
Lough Erne Resort has also won numerous awards including Hotel Restaurant of the Year and Hotel of the Year. It is also a great choice for spa hotel breaks.
