All hotels listed are family friendly with swimming pools, and all are recommended on TripAdvisor. 1. Breaffy House Hotel, Mayo, Family Room €576

Breaffy House Resort consists of two hotels set on 90 acres. The Breaffy House Hotel and Breaffy Woods Hotel are just two minutes walk from each other, and there are large family rooms that sleep up to six. We stayed here during the summer and loved it.
Guests have complimentary use of all resort facilities including 20 metre swimming pool, paddling pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, gymnasium and award-winning spa. Children are well catered for with two playgrounds, crazy golf, GAA pitch and plenty of opportunities for forest walks.
2. Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy, Wexford: Family Room: €467
The 4-star Riverside Park Hotel and Leisure Club in Wexford is a firm favourite with families. The leisure club with separate kids pool, and the lively Alamo Steakhouse prove popular with guests, as well as its close proximity to Curacloe Beach, the National Heritage Centre and Wells House and Gardens.
3. Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny Delxue Family Room B&B: €735
The Newpark Hotel is one of the best family hotels in Ireland – I have no doubt your kids will agree! It was voted Family Friendly Hotel of the year in 2020 at Georgina Campbell Irish Food & Hospitality Awards, the fact that there is a wildlife park and a go-karting track (8+) on site might have something to do with that!
Children will love meeting the llamas, emus, rabbits and donkeys, and there are over 40 acres of parkland to explore. There is also a fairy trail, treetop zip line, sandpit with diggers, seasonal kids club including weekend evening sessions, and a swimming pool.
4. The Inn at Dromoland, Clare, Family Room (5): €417
Situated on the famous Dromoland Estate, The Inn at Dromoland offers endless outdoor walks over 450 acres of countryside. With Bunratty Castle, the Cliffs of Moher and beaches just a short drive away, there are plenty of options for outdoor pursuits, as well as an indoor pool with separate kids pool at the hotel. This is one of the best value family hotel breaks in Ireland.
5. Woodstock Hotel, Clare, Family Room: €480
Clare’s Hotel Woodstock is a family run country house on the grounds of Woodstock Golf and Country Club. Located just 4km from Ennis and a short drive to the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren, the possibilities for day trips are endless. The onsite Leisure Club with pool, sauna and jacuzzi will be a warmly welcomed after spending a day along the Wild Atlantic Way.
6. Twin Trees Hotel & Leisure Club, Ballina, Co. Mayo: Family Room €507

The family-run Twin Trees Hotel overlooks the beautiful Brosna River, just a short distance from Ballina town. With a Leisure Club, swimming pool and popular restaurant on site, and its close proximity to Mayo’s top attractions, including Down Patrick Head and the Wild Atlantic Way, this is a great choice for a family holiday in Ireland.
7. Slieve Russell Hotel, Co. Cavan, Family Room B&B: €657
The Slieve Russell Hotel is set in 300 acres, surrounded by lakes and a Championship golf-course, as well boasting a a 20-metre swimming pool, luxurious spa and a choice of family-friendly dining options. There is also a Kids Club onsite with a games room, tennis courts, adventure golf and a teen spa.
8. Shearwater Hotel & Spa, Co. Galway, Family Suite: €613
Recently refurbished, the popular Galway hotel boasts an elegant interior, with a luxurious lobby and an inviting Library. There is a 20-meter swimming pool, an awarding-winning spa and there is usually live entertainment every Friday – Sunday. The onsite kids club caters from tots to teens with games, activities and movie nights – check with hotel for up to date facilities.
9. Mount Wolseley Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, Carlow,Family Room: €510
Famous for its championship golf course and award-winning spa, Mount Wolseley is a great choice for a family break in Ireland. Children are well looked after with a kiddies pool, zip line, soft play area, and a teen zone which is open until 11pm daily. A kids club for children aged 4-12 usually operates during school holidays, and there is a playground, tennis and basketball court.
10. Johnstown Estate, Meath, 2 Bedroom house: €627

11. 5-Star Druids Glen Resort, Wicklow, Deluxe Family Room: €765
We were fortunate to stay in the luxurious Druids Glen Hotel last year and loved it. The grounds, the pool, and the close proximity to Dublin made it a perfect getaway break for us. 12. Hodson Bay, Athlone, Co. Westmeath, Family Room B&B: €702
The 4-star Hodson Bay hotel boasts a wonderful lakeside location on the shores of Lough Ree. As well as a 20 metre pool and an award-winning spa, it also has a Kids Adventure Club which includes cookery school, music & dance, arts & crafts, treasure hunts and lots more.
As well as superb facilities on site, the world’s tallest inflatable waterslide at Baysports waterpark is located close by. Kayaking, Stand Up Paddle Boarding and pedal boats are also available here, making the Hodson Bay Hotel one of the most popular family hotels in Ireland, especially during the summer months.
13. Hotel Killarney, Kerry, Family suite (5) B&B: €597
Killarney is one of the most popular destinations for family breaks in Ireland. Killarney National Park, Muckross House and Torc Waterfall are family favourites, and its location on the Ring of Kerry and its close proximity to Wild Atlantic Way ensure endless possibilities for family days out. The Hotel Killarney has a leisure centre, kids clubs and lots of outdoor activities, as well as large family suites that sleep up to five.

Mount Juliet is one of Ireland’s finest hotels and is one of the most popular luxury family hotels in Ireland. We stayed here recently and had a fantastic experience. The grounds, the facilities and the choice of dining options are superb.
I was surprised at the extensive children’s activities available in Mount Juliet. There is a large playground with a zip line, as well as a fairy trail located in the gardens. Extensive kids clubs usually operate during school holidays, (extra charge applies), so parents can enjoy a round of golf or spa treatment while the kids avail of the supervised activities.
There are two kids clubs, one from age 5-12 and the other 12+. Activities range from archery, equestrian and meet the owls, to baking, golf, treasure hunts and arts and crafts. It is important to check activities in advance with Mount Juliet as some activities may change. There are also evening activities such as a talent show and movie nights, and children can dine with their new pals giving parents the opportunity to have a date night.

There is also a leisure centre and equestrian centre which we loved. I tried horse riding for the first time with my daughter Alex and it was fabulous! We trotted past the Manor House, through the woods and along side the golf course – it is an experience I would highly recommend.

Rated number 1 on TripAdvisor the luxurious Talbot Suites at Stonebridge is a super choice for families looking for large apartments in the heart of Wexford Town. The three-bedroom apartments have floor-to-ceiling windows, fully equipped kitchen and TV’s in all living areas and bedrooms. Guests have access to the swimming pool and Talbot Quay Leisure Centre and all the facilities of the Talbot Hotel Wexford.
16. Park Hotel, Dungarvan, Waterford, Family Room B&B: €580

The Park Hotel is located in one of Waterford’s prettiest towns, Dungarvan. It also boasts a leisure centre, extensive grounds and is ideally located within walking distance to the town centre and the Waterford Greenway. We loved cycling the Greenway during our tour of the Munster Vales, it it one of Ireland’s top outdoor attractions for families.

Overlooking Dublin Bay, I love the location of this hotel. I enjoy walking the family friendly Killiney Hill Walk regularly. Of course you can also take a short Dart ride to Dublin city, or simply relax and enjoy the pool – this great hotel is a great choice for a family break in the capital.
18. The Lakeside Hotel and Leisure Centre, Clare, Family Room B&B: €596
I must confess I did not know about the Lakeside Hotel until this summer, despite it being one of the best family hotels in Ireland. Located on the banks of the river Shannon, you can avail of Stand Up Paddle boarding, kayaking, mountain biking and lots more activities in the nearby University of Limerick Adventure Centre.
Children will love the leisure centre too, with swimming pool and 40 metre waterslide, as well as the complimentary milk and cookies at bedtime.
Family rooms are spacious and come with a mini fridge.The possibilities for day trips are endless, with Bunratty Folk Park, the Cliffs of Moher, a choice of beaches, and a local Chocolate factory, all close by.
19. Westlodge Hotel, Bantry, Co. Cork: €576
Set in 30 acres of gardens, yet close to Bantry town, The Westlodge Hotel is a super choice for families wishing to explore West Cork and the Wild Atlantic Way. The leisure centre, games room and pitch and putt course are also a big hit with families.
20. Montenotte Hotel, Cork, Family Room: €707
I have heard so many great things about the Montenotte Hotel, which has been recently refurbished and and offers stunning views of Cork city. With a state of the art leisure centre, an in-house cinema and this cosy outdoor terrace, it is one of the most popular places to stay in Cork.
