Self-catering apartments, All Inclusive resorts, luxury five-star hotels, and family villas – I’ve hand-picked 20 top properties for family holidays in Lanzarote.
With year round sunshine, glorious sandy beaches, family friendly facilities, and duty-free status, it is no surprise that family holidays in Lanzarote are highly sought after. Another plus is that most properties are only two or three stories high, due to Lanzarote’s building laws that prohibit high rise blocks.
There is a myriad of accommodation options to choose from, including 3-star apartments and luxury five-star family resorts, and I have tried to cater for all tastes and budgets.

Apartments with water parks in Lanzarote are highly sought after, but so are family villas in Lanzarote. All Inclusive resorts are becoming more and more popular, but personally, I love nothing better than trying its great selection of bars and restaurants.
I’m also conscious that family holidays in winter are very popular, so I included some hotels and apartments with heated swimming pools in Lanzarote. However, it is important to remember that while I have made every effort to ensure this post on family holidays in Lanzarote is accurate. facilities and services are subject to change.
Family Holidays in Puerto Del Carmen / Matagorda
View this post on Instagram
Puerto del Carmen is one of those holiday resorts that ticks all boxes. There is just the right amount of night-life, without being too lively, and it has holiday atmosphere in abundance. There are plenty of different areas to stay, the growing ‘new town’ leads in to the neighbouring resorts of Los Pocillos and Matagorda.
I love the ‘old town’ which has some lovely restaurants and excellent duty free shopping, with shops like Zara and Mango about 20% cheaper than what you would find at home. The harbour is the best place to catch the sun set. There are plenty of bars and restaurants as well as a playground for kids. You can enjoy sundowners while the kids play happily – its bliss.

With plenty of five star hotels and an upmarket marina, Playa Blanca is becoming the ‘sophisticated’ choice for family holidays in Lanzarote. The promenade stretches for 7km from the Marina Rubicon to the small old port where you can catch the ferry to Fuerteventura.
There are plenty of inexpensive restaurants along the seafront, and most offer stunning sea views. The marina has plenty of upmarket restaurants and designer boutiques, all surrounded by some luxurious yachts.
