Secluded beaches and rugged mountains, medieval towns and quaint villages, lively resorts and restful retreats – Rhodes holidays have it all.
I recall exploring the beautiful island of Rhodes many years ago, and finding each town and village more beautiful than the next. Rhodes Town is mesmerising, as is the hilltop village of Lindos, but I loved discovering Prasonisi Beach, at the bottom tip of the island, where the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas collide – it was fascinating to see the two different seas coming together. I have some great memories from Rhodes holidays over the years.
I was delighted to hear Ryanair’s recent announcement to fly from Dublin to Rhodes this Summer, this is in addition to the already established route Aer Lingus offer to the island. For those of you clinging onto the hope of jetting away to Europe this year, Rhodes holidays may well be a popular choice, with flights scheduled to operate until the end of October.
Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese Islands in Greece and boasts a rich historical past mixed with modern resorts and luxurious hotels. Rhodes Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage City and the Colossus of Rhodes is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. I dare you not to fall in love with the whitewashed, picture perfect village of Lindos too – it is a must visit on any holiday to Rhodes.
But Rhodes is not all about history and culture, it has an abundance of holiday resorts for couples, families and groups – I have chosen my top picks of hotels, villas and resorts to make sure that you, like me, can experience some wonderful Rhodes holidays with family or friends.

5-Star All-Inclusive Mayia Exclusive Resort & Spa, Kiotari
Set in the tranquil beach resort of Kiotari, the Adult- Only Mayia Exclusive Resort is the perfect escape for couples on the lookout for a Premium All-Inclusive experience in Rhodes. The resort boasts six restaurants, a huge selection of leisure activities including Zumba, yoga, and mixology classes, plus an impressive choice of room types, with many of the rooms offering direct access from your terrace to a shared heated pool.
If your preference is the beach, don’t worry, just a short walk from the hotel you will find a secluded beach with Balinese sun beds, a beach bar and an array of water sports. This five-star resort is sure to exceed your expectations for a luxury adults-only Rhodes holiday.
4-Star Island Boutique Hotel, Rhodes Town
Four couples looking for a short break, or who want to stay in the heart of Rhodes Town, then look no further than the Island Boutique Hotel. Located across the road from the beach and just 700 metres from the marina, you will be spoilt for choice for shopping, restaurants and night life. Rated as excellent on TripAdvisor and a Travellers Choice winner in 2020, this is a great value choice.
5-Star Atrium Platinum Resort & Spa, Ixia
With its location on the west coast of Rhodes, you will be spoiled by the fabulous sunsets and breath-taking views during your stay at the Atrium Platinum Resort. There is so much to love about this resort from the beautiful design of the pool area with overwater bridges, to the four mouth-watering a la carte restaurants on offer. Choose to stay on a B&B, Half Board or All-Inclusive Basis.
For an extra special treat, check out the Deluxe Junior Suites with private pool and stunning sea views! If you’re able to tear yourself away from the luxurious resort, spend a perfect evening wandering through the narrow, cobbled streets and squares of the medieval Old Town, which is less than five km from the resort. The excellent TripAdvisor reviews for the Atrium Platinum Resort speak for themselves – this is one of the most popular Rhodes holidays for couples.
5-Star Casa Cook Rhodes, Kolymbia
I have wanderlust just looking at the images of Casa Cook Rhodes, where the biggest decision you will make is whether to hang out on your hammock, or take a dip in the pool accessed directly from your private veranda. The style at Casa Cook is Bohemian and that is reflected in the minimally decorated pool villas, which are furnished with woven wall hangings, wicker lampshades, and natural surfaces.
This theme is enhanced further by the boutique hotel’s mountainous and wildflower backdrop. The atmosphere at the adult-only Casa Cook is laid back luxury with an emphasis on wellbeing for the body and soul. This is certainly a couples retreat with a twist.
5- Star Elysium Resort & Spa, Faliraki
Rhodes holidays at the Elysium Resort offer the best of both worlds – luxury beachfront accommodation located within easy reach of Rhodes’ liveliest resort Faliraki. This is the perfect choice if you want to mix luxury with nightlife, it also happens to be located just 15 minutes from Rhodes Town.
This chic resort offers elegant rooms and suites, many with stunning sea views, plus an array of bars and restaurants to choose from. It is worth mentioning La Piscine Pool bar, which sits pride of place in the centre of the resort’s enormous lagoon style pool. It is perfect for chilling out with a cocktail during the day, and lets not forget the award-winning rooftop Noble Gourmet Restaurant that offers panoramic views and exceptional food. Both the restaurant and the chef at Noble have received prestigious awards in recent years.
Be sure to take time to unwind in the world class Serenity Spa with ESPA branded products and treatments. The incredible attention to detail and luxury offering at the Elysium has contributed to the amazing TripAdvisor reviews the resort consistently receives.
The Best Resorts in Rhodes for Families
5- Star All-Inclusive Holiday Village Atlantica Rhodes, Kolymbia
Many families will be familiar with the ultimate action-packed Holiday Villages that TUI Holidays offer throughout many European destinations. The Holiday Village Atlantica in Rhodes is no exception, it is almost difficult to know where to begin. The standout facilities in my view include an onsite water park, an Aerial Adventure assault course, an evening entertainment programme, kids’ clubs (creche 0-35 months, clubs 3 – 8 years and 9 – 15 years), a mini-cinema, five restaurants, seven bars and four outdoor pools. I honestly could keep going…
Although children are the primary focus at this All-Inclusive resort, for the adults there is an Elemis Spa with a range of treatments, an adult indoor pool with sauna and steam room, and a swim-up bar, the perfect place to be while the children are being entertained 😉. This is one of the most popular choices for action packed Rhodes holidays for families.
4-Star Self Catering Sun Beach Resort Complex, Iayssos
Located in the north coast of Rhodes, the Sun Beach Resort is the perfect base for self-catering Rhodes holidays for families. Offering great value for a four-star property, it is worth looking particularly at the Kids Suites which are decorated with children in mind. They come complete with an activity table, drawing pads, crayons, and a Sony PlayStation 4 Game Console!
The resort boasts a full activity programme, a kids movie club and three outdoor playgrounds. Located on the beachfront and just 10 minutes from Rhodes Town, there are a lot of reasons to consider the Sun Beach Resort.
5-Star Atlantica Aegean Blue, Kolymbia
A fun filled Rhodes holiday awaits the whole family at the Atlantica Aegean Blue with plenty of activities for all ages. The kids club is split into groups from three years, with up to two hours of activities on most days. However, the main talking point at this resort is the water park with flumes, slides, and space bowls. You can even compete against each other in a three-lane water slide race.
Premium family rooms will offer good space for two adults and two children with a partition between two sleeping areas, and for an additional supplement you can have direct access to a swimming pool from your terrace in the swim-up family rooms.
The All-Inclusive options are well catered for with four restaurants to choose from and a specific children’s section in the Thalassa buffet restaurant. Your family won’t be left wanting at the Atlantica Aegean Blue.
The Atlantica Aegean Blue is also sold by TUI Holidays so you can choose Rhodes holidays with flights and hotel included, or alternatively book your own flights with Aer Lingus or Ryanair and select the hotel only option below.
4-Star All-Inclusive Rodos Princess Beach Hotel, Kiotari
You are sure to make wonderful family holiday memories at the Rodos Princess Beach Hotel with its wealth of activities on offer. The animation team organise morning and evening entertainment for both adults and children. There is also a children’s splash park with water slides which is also included in the All-Inclusive program.
However, if a more leisurely stay is your preference, there is plenty of choice to relax at one of the hotel’s six pools, or take a short walk to the hotel’s private beach. Family rooms sleep up to five guests and I would recommend a sea view room which normally holds just a small supplement over the garden view rooms.
3-Star Self Catering Pefki Islands Resort, Pefkos
Rated the best place to stay in Pefkos on TripAdvisor as well as a Travellers Choice Award Winner in 2020, don’t let the 3-star rating fool you when you look at the Pefki Islands Resort. I recall selling this on many occasions as a travel agent, and received numerous calls from happy customers upon their return.
Not only is the location idyllic, but Pefki Islands Resort looks pretty too. This miniature village is made up of self catering apartments, two large swimming pools with swim-up bars, separate children’s pools, a games room and a children’s playground.
It beachfront location, just five minutes walk from the quiet town of Pefkos is ideal for families or couples looking for relaxing Rhodes holidays in beautiful surroundings. The local bus can also take you to Lindos and Rhodes Town if you fancy a change of scenery.
The Pefki Islands Resort is sold by TUI Holidays so you can book a package holiday here during the summer months. Alternatively book your own flights with Aer Lingus or Ryanair and select the hotel only option below.
