Sardinia Holidays from Ireland – Weekend breaks & Summer Holiday Deals from €259!

sardinia

Sardinia holidays from Ireland are back! Choose a weekend break or a longer stay, and enjoy white sandy beaches, gorgeous old towns and great Italian food.

With a direct three-hour flight from Dublin and a ten-minute airport transfer and you can be enjoying nice Italian food in the old town of Alghero, with one of Italy’s best beaches beside you. Sardinia holidays may not seem like the typical choice for a short break, but we booked a long weekend in Sardinia a few years ago and loved it.

Instagram

The old town of Alghero is perfect for a long weekend or indeed a longer stay. With cobbled stone streets, trendy boutiques and a great food scene, Alghero is a pleasure to stroll around. There is also a beautiful white sandy beach here which is not something that many of the other Italian resorts can boast about.

If you like designer shopping then take a visit the Costa Smeralda, if only to window shop and see how the other half live! You might spot some celebrities while you are there, this is a very popular hang out for the rich and famous. If that doesn’t float your boat, take a trip to the neighbouring island of Corsica and marvel at the stunning scenery – it is well worth a visit.

Best travel deals

I’ve searched the web so you don’t have to! My best travel deals include last minute holidays, summer holidays, city breaks, early booking offers, and staycations for couples and families.

It is important to be aware of the latest travel restrictions. You can choose a city break in Lisbon during school holidays, with return flights from €80 per person, (3rd – 6th November), or fly to the Algarve (via Lisbon) for seven-nights from €147 per person (29th October – 5th November).

Santorini Holiday – Aer Lingus Flights & Hotel, 18th May 1 week, €577

oia-416135_1280_opt

Scratch one off the bucket list and kick start your summer with a Santorini holiday in May.

Santorini is undoubtedly one of top places to visit in the world, so I was delighted when Aer Lingus announced they were going to continue flying direct from Dublin airport this year. Wouldn’t a Santorini holiday be the ultimate way to kick start your summer?

I love Aer Lingus’ flexible booking options, so if you do decide to book a Santorini holiday now, you know that you can change your flights as many times as you like up to 3oth of September. And, if you opt for their Plus or Smart fare, you can cancel and avail of a refund voucher that is valid for five years.

Santorini is still on my own bucket list – I can’t wait to visit, but I want to spend a week there, and not simply get a glimpse from a cruise ship visit. The picture postcard villages of Oia and Fira have to be one of the best places in the world to watch the sunset – and this is only possible if you book a Santorini holiday.

holiday deal to Santorini

The island is quite small, so if you choose to stay on the beach side, you will never be longer than 30 minutes bus ride from the stunning villages of Oia, Imerovigli and Fira. The beach resorts have plenty of life, and the restaurants and bars offer better value for money.

I often see luxury hotels with private pools being advertised, but it is also possible to book a Santorini holiday on a budget – there are plenty of three and four-star hotel options to choose from.

I found a great deal in the highly rated Unique Galini Oia. This white-washed guest house is located in Santorini’s most popular resort Oia. This Cycladic-style home with a heated swimming pool, sun terrace and air-conditioned rooms is rated as Excellent on TripAdvisor and is great value for such a central location. A homemade breakfast is also included in the price of your stay.

Easter Weekend In Croatia, Flights & 5 Star Hotel, 3 Nights, €456pp

croatia hotel

Always wanted to see Dubrovnik? Check out this deal to Croatia for Easter weekend. Price includes flights and five-star hotel for three nights.

The medieval city of Dubrovnik should be on everyone’s wish list. It is so well preserved and looks like something straight out of a fairytale. Walk around the city walls, take the cable car to Srd Hill and then catch the sunset from one of the many cliff bars. Although you can stay in the heart of the old town, I think the best way to enjoy it is to holiday in one of the resorts close by.

Dubrovnik is actually quite small and can be packed with cruise ship visitors during the day. However, staying outside the centre, lets you have the best of both world. Relax by the sea or pool during the day and pop in the evening when the city is less crowded.

I have chosen the pretty town of Cavtat, a resort I stayed in with my family a few years ago. Once a small fishing village it is now a picture postcard resort, with upmarket hotels and crystal clear waters. Easter Weekend in Lisbon, Flights & 4-Star Hotel, 3 Nights, €379!

Lisbon

A beautiful coastal city renowned for terrific sightseeing and a great food scene, take advantage of this early booking offer and spend Easter weekend in Lisbon.

Lisbon is one Europe’s top city break destinations, and after my recent visit I now know why! It has a beautiful old town, with pastel-coloured buildings with terracotta rooftops as far as the eye can see. Lisbon is very easy to navigate too, but if you don’t fancy walking it, there are fantastic old trams that will bring you around all the highlights.

There is plenty to see in Lisbon itself, but if you want to travel, you can take the train to the coastal towns of Cascais or Estoril, or explore the UNESCO World Heritage City of Sintra, and it’s palaces, castles and museums.

4-Star Weekend In Iceland, Flights & Hotel, 26th March, €386!

aurora-borealis-69221_1280_opt

Beat the January blues and book a super weekend in Iceland. This deal includes direct flights and three nights in a centrally located hotel!

I went to Iceland a few years ago and I loved it. It was everything I hoped it would be and so much more! The scenery, the people, everything about the trip was amazing, despite having crazy snow storms. We saw the Northern Lights, something that was on my bucket list for years. October to April is the best time to see them in Iceland, so fingers crossed you will too.

We also swam in the Blue Lagoon. Bathing in the steamy waters of the Blue Lagoon with snow all around us was something really special. In fact the whole island looked like a Winter wonderland.

weekend in Iceland

I found a good deal staying in the 4-star Icelandair Reykjavik Natura Hotel. This eco-friendly hotel is home to the only heated indoor hotel pool in the area. You will also find a 24-hour gym, steam bath, sauna and hot tub.

Rooms are small but modern, and are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge. This can be useful in a country that is not cheap on the ground!

I have based this weekend in Iceland on a three night stay departing March 26th, but if you are looking to change your dates or stay longer, simply edit the dates on the links below to suit your requirements. I have added direct links to Skyscanner below to show you the cost of the flights, but when you click through to the list of providers, I suggest you book directly on the Icelandair website.

TOP TIP: Make sure you book the Northern Lights tour for the first night you arrive. If it is cancelled due to poor visibility (which happens regularly), this will give you time to re schedule for another night.
