10 Family Holiday Deals For Halloween Break – City Breaks and Sun Holidays

Disneyland Paris Halloween

From sun holidays to city breaks, theme park adventures to luxury five-star resorts, I’ve got 10 family holidays for Halloween break to suit all tastes and budgets.

Still searching for family holidays for Halloween break? I’ve done all the hard work for you and have some great options below to choose from. Whether you want a five-star holiday in Dubai, a beach holiday in the Canary Islands or a short break to London, I’ve got you covered.
Instagram
TOP TIP: Prices are correct at the time of publication (1st August) but if lots of people are trying to access flights or accommodation at the same time, the prices may increase. If this happens, edit the search dates, or check back later – you may find the holiday is still available.

I have chosen random dates during the mid term break but you can edit the dates via the links below – you will see it is cheaper to depart the day before mid term officially starts, or return a day later.

Headline prices below are inclusive of flights and based on two adults and two children travelling, however many of the accommodation listed below can accommodate larger families – see individual deals for details.

If you are looking for some staycations over Halloween break – then check out this post:

1. Algarve, Flights & Apartment, 1 week: €1313

family holidays to the Algarve for Halloween break

I am a regular visitor to the Algarve, and I enjoyed a family holiday for Halloween break here last year. I love its stunning beaches, great choice of restaurants and how family friendly it is.

There are multiple flights to Faro from Ireland but I found the best value departing from Dublin on the 28th of October with Aer Lingus and returning early morning with Ryanair on the 4th of November.

Similarly there are many different accommodation options to choose from. I have priced a two-bedroom apartment in the 3-star Balaia Golf Village, and an apartment in the 4-star Eden Resort below, but you can find my top recommendations for family holidays to the Algarve here.

Outbound here €62pp

2. Gran Canaria, Flights & Apartment, 1 week: €1871

family holidays for Halloween break in the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are the most popular destination for family holidays for Halloween, as traditionally it is the best place to guarantee some October sunshine. For this reason flight prices tend to be more expensive than other areas.

However, I found some good prices departing on October 31st and returning Monday November 7th. There are flights back on Sunday, but it is better value to stay the extra day if time allows – return flights for seven nights with Aer Lingus are €296 per person.

See flights here €296pp

There are many accommodation options to choose from. The Cala Dor apartments offer good value at just €762 for seven nights. Families of five can choose a two-bedroom apartment in the 4-star Las Villas de Amadores for €1220.

Family of 4 €687

Family of 5 €1220

Treat the kids to a trip to PortAventura and Ferrari Land over the Halloween break. I have two great options – a five night stay in Cambrils with park passes included, or a three-night break staying on-site at PortAventura with daily access to the park.

Price including flights, hotel and park tickets is €1412 for a family of four, or €1805 for a family of five. See more details on family holidays for Halloween in PortAventura here:

4. Disneyland Paris, Flights, Hotel & 2-Day Park Passes, 3-Nights: €1434

Reasons to visit Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris is magical at any time of year but at Halloween you can expect plenty of spooky activities that the kids will love! Main Street U.S.A is full of pumpkins, flickering lights and creepy sounds while scary attractions like Phantom Manor and Tower of Terror have some additional spooky surprises in store.

Return flights to Orly airport are surprisingly well priced over Halloween break. Orly is only about 45 minutes from Disneyland Paris and return private transfers are just €138 for a family of four.

I found a great deal staying at the 4-star Hotel L’Eysée Val D’Europe, based on two adults and two children sharing. This highly-rated hotel is located in the popular shopping area of Val D’Europe, and as it is a Disney Partner hotel you can avail of the free shuttle bus to the parks.

Airfares to the Algarve are still quite reasonably priced in August. I found return flights from Dublin airport for €177 on the 21st of August, and €239 from Cork on the 17th of August. While there are some good value family properties available, ( see holiday deals in August for families below), good value hotels for adults are hard to find.

However, I did manage to find a room in the Alvor Jardim in Alvor – a resort I visit regularly. Price for a seven-night stay on the 21st of August is €690 per person. I also found a package deal to Albufeira on the 21st of August for €571 – but be careful there was only one room left at the time of publication!

Weekend in Iceland, Flights, Hotel, & Northern Lights Tour, 19th January, 4 Nights, €496!

aurora-borealis-69221_1280_opt

Beat the January blues with this super weekend in Iceland. Price includes direct flights, four nights in a centrally located hotel, and a Northern Lights night tour!

We spent a weekend in Iceland a few years ago and loved it. It was everything I hoped it would be and so much more! The scenery, the people, everything about the trip was amazing, despite having crazy snow storms…

We saw the Northern Lights, something that was on my bucket list for years. October to April is the best time to see them in Iceland, so fingers crossed you will too.

I found a good deal staying in the 4-star Vintage Hotel. This is a superbly located townhouse hotel in the heart of the city, and all rooms have a kitchenette, which can be handy in Iceland if you are trying to economise!

I have based this weekend in Iceland on a four-night stay departing January 19th, but if you are looking for a shorter or longer stay, or wish to travel at a different time, simply edit the dates on the links below to suit your requirements.

I have added direct links to Skyscanner below to show you the cost of the flights, but when you click through to the list of providers, I suggest you book directly on the Icelandair or Play airlines websites. You will see the price is slightly more expensive to book directly on the airlines website, but I have included that in the cost below.

I also included a Northern Lights night tour with pick-up from your hotel. If you don’t see the aurora on this tour, you can do it again at no additional cost. TOP TIP: Make sure you book the Northern Lights tour for the first night you arrive. If it is cancelled due to poor visibility (which happens regularly), this will give you time to re schedule for another night.

Sarah at Sani Beach Resort (1)

Want to visit one of the world’s best holiday resorts? This super deal to Sani Beach Resort in October includes flights and hotel, with breakfast and evening meal included.

I fell in love with Sani Beach Resort a few years ago and finally got to return with my family last week. Hopefully you can also experience them for yourself with this super deal to Sani Beach Resort in October.

Sani Resort comprises of five hotels set on a stunning peninsula in Kassandra, in the region of Halkidiki, Greece. This exclusive resort is easily accesible with direct flights from Dublin to Thessaloniki every Friday and Monday from April to October.

It is one of the few occasions in my lifetime that I never left a holiday resort. As well as the countless facilities for children, there are daily activities for adults including Sunrise Yoga, Pilates, Aqua Swim, TRX, as well as luxury Spas in each hotel, complimentary boat trips and a host of options for evening entertainment.

There are beautiful bars at the beach and the marina for pre or post dinner drinks – many offering live music,  and a theatre with top class shows every night.

There are 27 different restaurants to choose from, and Sani’s dine around system allows you to eat in most of these without any extra charge – if you choose to dine from the Dine Around or Set Menus. However, if you wish to go à la carte you can opt for the allowance system.

Dining at Sani Beach Resort

If staying in Sani Beach Hotel you can receive an allowance of €20 for adults and €10 for children from the à la carte menu. Allowances are slightly higher in the other hotels.

We tried our best to stick to the Dine Around menus, as the food is excellent throughout the resort and sometimes we tried things we wouldn’t ordinarily try at home. We did on a few occasions choose the à la carte, and used the allowance system.

It is not just the outstanding service and facilities that makes Sani special. The setting is stunning. With lush green mountains, 7km of white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, and a magnificent marina – I spent my days simply appreciating my surroundings. Prices during July and August are expensive, but you have to bear in mind that it is Europe’s best family resort. However, if you travel off peak prices are much more reasonable.

If you happen to get unlucky with the weather, don’t worry, all swimming pools are heated and there are plenty of indoor pools and activities to keep you entertained. Although average temperature for the same week last year was 64 degrees with no rain.

I had the pleasure of cruising on Celebrity Beyond recently and it was my best cruise experience to date. I loved its stylish decor, spacious outdoor areas and superb dining options. It is modern luxury cruising at its best, and although 5-star, its relaxed atmosphere means it is not at all pretentious.

Instead of one main dining room, Celebrity Beyond has four themed restaurants that feel more like restaurants than a large dining hall. 75% of the menus are the same but 25% are exclusive dishes based on the venue – Italian, French, American etc. This gives the feeling you are dining in a speciality restaurant, but you don’t have to pay for the privilege.

Celebrity Cruises ‘always included’ pricing means that drinks, WiFi and tips are included on all cruises. This makes Celebrity cruises good value for money when you consider the standard and service you receive.

This super cruise deal cruises from Barcelona and visits Marseille, Nice, Santa Margherita, Florence / Pisa, Sicily, Naples and Rome. Price of €1929 includes flights, checked baggage, meals and drinks, wifi and gratuities.

4. MS Arena: Christmas Markets River Cruise, Flights, Hotel Stay & 4-Night Cruise, €799pp

river cruise deals from Ireland

While mega cruise ships get most of the media attention, river cruising is one of the fastest growing sectors within the cruise industry. They are a great introduction to cruising and ideal for people who may not want to cruise on crowded ships – river cruise ships carry an average of 150 passengers.

Some of the advantages to river cruising over ocean cruising is that you have a different view each day. When you dock in a city, you can walk into the town centre without need for coaches or excursions.  They tend to attract an older clientele, although shorter itineraries such as Christmas market cruises can attract a younger age group.

Cologne Christmas markets cruise

I cruised on MS Arena overnight from Amsterdam, and while basic compared to 4-star ocean cruises, I found the food and service very good. It is a great way to try cruising without breaking the bank.

I found a great offer for a Christmas markets cruise which includes an overnight stay in Cologne. Price for flights, hotel stay and a four night cruise with all meals included on the 1st, 5th or 9th of December is €799 per person.

5-Star Deal to Croatia, 12th October, 1 week, €549!

croatia hotel

Always wanted to see Dubrovnik? Check out this super deal to Croatia in August. Price includes flights and five-star hotel for three nights, with breakfast included.

The medieval city of Dubrovnik should be on everyone’s wish list. It is so well preserved and looks like something straight out of a fairytale. Walk around the city walls, take the cable car to Srd Hill and then catch the sunset from one of the many cliff bars. Although you can stay in the heart of the old town, I think the best way to enjoy it is to holiday in one of the resorts close by.

Dubrovnik is actually quite small and can be packed with cruise ship visitors during the day. However, staying outside the centre, lets you have the best of both world. Relax by the sea or pool during the day and pop in the evening when the city is less crowded.

I have chosen the pretty town of Cavtat, a resort I stayed in with my family a few years ago. Once a small fishing village it is now a picture postcard resort, with upmarket hotels and crystal clear waters. Dine in one of the many restaurants that are dotted along the seafront promenade, and admire the sea views and mountainous backdrop.

If you fancy spending the day in Dubrovnik,  catch a water taxi from the shore, or hop on the local bus. For more details on visiting this incredible city, read my city guide to Dubrovnik.

Halloween Break in PortAventura & Ferrari Land Inc Flights & Hotel, 2ad & 2ch, €1236

portaventura

Fancy a Halloween Break in Salou? I’ve got a choice of two great breaks, staying in the popular resort of Cambrils or staying on-site at PortAventura.

The October mid term break is a great time for a family break away, and Salou is a great choice because there is so much to do there. You can choose to relax on the beach if you get great weather, take day-trips to the nearby cities of Barcelona and Tarragona, or spend a day or more at PortAventura – one of Europe’s largest theme parks.

There are rides for kids of all ages and Halloween activities are usually arranged at this time too. We enjoyed a wonderful few days in PortAventura a few years ago – my kids loved it.

Ryanair have extended their service from Dublin to Barcelona Reus airport to coincide with the Halloween break this year, and I found good value flights for five nights on the 29th of October, or three nights on the 1st of November.

If staying for five nights I suggest staying in one of the beach resorts, like the highly rated Estival ElDorado Resort in Cambrils. Located beside the beach with three swimming pools, sports facilities and a Spa on-site, this is a super choice for a family break in Salou.

Price for flights and a five-night stay in a junior suite is €1303 based on a family of four. Add on 2-day family park passes to Port Aventura and Ferrari Land for €192.

If you prefer to stay on-site at PortAventura, then this three-night break might suit you at the 4-star Gold River Hotel. I stayed in this particular hotel and found it great, you can walk directly into Port Aventura from the grounds.

It was particularly handy at night time. We were able to stay late to see the fireworks and light show, and then walk back to the Gold River Hotel afterwards.

Reus airport is closer to Salou than Barcelona so I have priced this Halloween break in Salou based on flying in Barcelona Reus airport – you will see more options when you search on the Ryanair website. However flights are cheaper if you are happy to fly into Barcelona. Perhaps you might want to hire a car and explore the Costa Dorada instead?
