Family Holiday To Orlando For Easter, Flights & Universal Hotel, 10 Nights, 2ad & 2ch, €5225

universal-globe_opt

Take the kids on a trip of a lifetime and book a family holiday to Orlando for Easter.

Florida is one of the world’s best family holiday destinations. With 14 major theme parks and countless other attractions, you will be spoilt for choice for things to do. Stay on site at one of the Universal Studios hotels and get early access to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and enjoy mind blowing simulator rides from your favourite movies.

Walt Disney World is another must see – and contrary to what you might think, it’s not just for younger kids! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Pandora – The World of Avatar, are some of Orlando’s most popular attractions – you may need to spend longer in Disney than you think!

Let the kids see their favourite Disney characters in street parades and make sure you catch the dazzling fire work displays.

However, you will see lots more than Universal Studios and Walt Disney World on your family holiday to Orlando. There are numerous water parks to choose from as well as Legoland, Peppa Pig World, and the Kennedy Space Center, which is just an hour’s drive away. And don’t forget the shopping! You need to allow a full day to explore the Florida Mall and the Premium Outlets.

I have chosen one of Universal Studios’ Hotels –  Endless Summer Resort, the hotel that we stayed in last year. Not only has this new resort got family friendly facilities, but once you purchase park tickets, you will receive early access to Universal Studios parks, one hour before the parks open, and get free transport to and from the parks.

Family rooms and large family suites are also available that can cater for families of six.

When you search via the link below you will see lots of cheaper options, however it I have added checked baggage in this airfare and also wanted a flight that went straight to the US (and not via London or an European airport), so you can clear immigration in Dublin airport before you fly.

A trip to Zakynthos town is also worthwhile, but for me the beauty lies in just chilling out its gorgeous beaches, and enjoying Greek food in beachside tavernas.

We loved the laid back atmosphere, and although some resorts are very much developed for tourists, it is still possible to find unspoilt Greek villages and authentic experiences.

Santorini Holidays, Flights & Accommodation, 22nd October, 5 Nights from €319pp

oia-Santorini

Scratch one off your bucket list with these Santorini holidays from Dublin – prices from €319 for five nights!

Santorini has been on my bucket list and I am finally getting around to visiting this summer. The picture postcard villages of Oia and Fira are renowned as some of the best places in the world to watch the sunset, and these Santorini holidays are a great way to find out if that’s true – without breaking the bank in the process.

Instagram

Aer Lingus and Ryanair are both flying direct from Dublin to Santorini this year and there are great value airfares available, especially if you can travel off peak. I found return flights from €145 in October.

I chose Santorini holiday deals in October for this post, but if that time doesn’t suit you, simply edit the dates via the links provided below. The main resorts can be extremely busy during the peak summer months, so by going in October you should hopefully avoid most of the crowds and the high prices – its a win win!

The island is quite small, so if you choose to stay on the beach side, you will never be longer than 30 minutes bus ride from the stunning villages of Oia, Imerovigli and Fira. Most of the beach resorts have plenty of life, and the restaurants and bars offer better value for money.

I often see luxury hotels being advertised, but it is also possible to book Santorini holidays on a budget – there are plenty of three and four-star hotel options to choose from that receive great reviews from previous guests.

santorini villages

I found a great deal in the well rated Zacharakis apartments. Located just 30 metres from Kamari Beach, with shops and restaurants close by. There is  a small roof top pool and free parking available, and they also have rooms that can sleep up to four, should you want to bring friends or family along.

Price per room is €127 per person for a five-night stay. The apartments receive great reviews on TripAdvisor and are a good choice for anyone looking for a relaxing break in Santorini on a budget.

If you prefer to stay in Oia or Fira, there is value there too. The popular Oias Sunset are €317pp for a five-night stay. For a great value five-star experience, check out the De Sol Hotel & Spa in Fira. Priced at just €604 per person for a five-night stay including breakfast.

The Riverside Park Hotel has a super selection of family breaks and I love how much is included in their packages. Two-night stays are available during the summer from €369 for 2 adults and 1 child, €395 for 2 adults and 2 children and €509 for 2 adults and 3 children.

All of the following are included in their summer breaks:

  • 4-Course meal for all the family on the evening of your choice
  • Full Irish breakfast each morning
  • Family Activity Pass to one of Wexford’s family attractions – see more details below
  • Ice cream treat for kids on arrival
  • Full access to swimming pool and Leisure Club

As well as great family deals, here are five great reasons to choose the Riverside Park Hotel for family breaks in Wexford.

1. The superior family rooms are cleverly designed

superior family room at Riverside Park Hotel

I have seen many family rooms in hotels over the years, but I was really impressed with the clever design in the Riverside Park’s superior family rooms. Not only are these rooms very spacious – they can accommodate two adults and three children, but some have individual TV’s and headsets for children, that hang on a dividing wall in the centre of the room.

This means parents and children can enjoy their own choice of entertainment in comfort. As well as this great amenity, you can expect tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary mineral water in your room.

Superior rooms vary in design and layout – most have the dividing wall, but others are open plan with a separate tv in the ceiling. Standard rooms are also very well equipped and accommodate families of four, but do not have individual TV’s for children.

Some of the rooms can accommodate four children, and interconnecting rooms are also available – please call hotel directly to book these.

2. There are lots of family-friendly facilities, including a Kids Club

swimming pool at the Riverside Park Hotel

The hotel’s leisure centre boasts an indoor heated pool and a separate children’s pool, as well as a fully equipped gym and Rejuvenate Treatment Rooms – just incase you fancy a treatment while the kids are playing.

A kids club will be on every evening from 6pm – 10pm during summer holidays. Children of all ages are welcome, once they are potty trained. There is small charge of €6 for dinner and €6 for club but children are welcome to come to the club without dinner.

There is also a great playground beside the hotel with climbing frames, slides, swings, and a zip wire. Alex and her pal had a great time playing here last summer.

3. There are three dining options to choose from.

The Riverside Park Hotel has a wide selection of dining options to suit all the family. Choose the full bar menu or daily carvery at the Prom Bar, delicious steaks at the lively Alamo Steakhouse, or fine-dining at the elegant Moorings restaurant.

All hotel restaurants use high quality locally grown produce, and kids menus are available in all three restaurants. Vegan and vegetarian options are also available. Children’s meals included in this offer are standard child-size portions but if, like me, you have a hungry teenager, you can order adult-size portions for an additional €12 extra per person.

A new addition to the hotel last year was the Riverside Coffee Hub which is located outside the hotel overlooking the river and beside the playground, with picnic tables to enjoy coffee, crepes, waffles to name a few of the home baked treats.

The Riverside Park Hotel enjoys a picturesque location right on the banks of the River Slaney in Enniscorthy. There is a delightful 5km river walk that starts right outside the hotel, and it is only five minutes from the town centre. It is just 19km from the famous Curracloe beach, and within easy access of Wexford’s top attractions.

5. Wexford is full of top class family attractions

We enjoyed family breaks in Wexford on a few occasions – it is a super choice for a family holiday in Ireland. As well as six Blue Flag beaches, Wexford is home to Ireland’s only Seal Rescue Centre, the Secret Valley Wild Life Park, the oldest operating lighthouse in the world – Hook Lighthouse  and two of my own favourite family attractions, Wells House and Gardens and Irish National Heritage Park.

Wells House and Gardens is one of those rare treats that is equally appealing to young and old. The Gruffalo Walk, Enchanted Woodland Walk and Fairy Trail are superb, and there are interactive animal experiences (extra charge) with meerkats, racoons and tortoise.

The National Heritage Park is an interactive open-air museum. It shows how Irish people lived through the Stone Age, Bronze Age, when the Vikings came, right up to when the Normans came in 1169. There are Crannogs and Ringfort as well as the organised activities.

The National Heritage Park and Wells Gardens are two of the attractions that is included with your family break at Riverside Park Hotel.
