Bag yourself a week in one of the nicest areas in Greece – I couldn’t recommend the western side of Crete more. The Venetian towns of Chania and Rethyo and stunning beaches like Elafonsi Beach (pictured above), are a pleasure to explore.
Ranked number 1 on TripAdvisor with a review score of 4.8/5, Mike’s Hotel and Apartments is just metres from the beach and ideally located to explore this whole region.

4. Best Short Break: Top Rated October Weekend in Spain from €229pp
You cannot beat this price for an October getaway at the top rated 4 star Hotel Golden Bahia de Tossa & Spa. Located on the outskirts of Tossa de Mar, on Spain’s Costa Brava.
It is a short walk to the medieval castle and scenic cliffside paths, and just 700 metres from the beach. Bars, restaurants, shops and the bus station are all 300 metres away, and solo traveller prices are also available from €329 per person.

5. Best Family Holiday: 5 Star All Inclusive Algarve, 2&2 from €3836
The Tivoli Alvor Algarve Resort is a great choice for family all inclusive holidays. Adults will love the choice of restaurants and wellness centre, while kids can enjoy the kids club, and dedicated children’s pool with tipping buckets and slides.

Set on beautiful grounds and close to Sligo Town centre, the 4-star Clayton Sligo ticks all boxes for a family holiday in Ireland. We stayed here a few years ago and loved its family friendly facilities and spacious family rooms. The leisure centre has a separate kids pool, and a kids club usually operates during school holidays.

Plan ahead and secure some winter sun in the Caribbean island. You can enjoy an all inclusive holiday in the Dominican Republic from as little as €1159 if you fancy overnighting in London, but for the best flight connections I have priced this going via Toronto Canada.

I was lucky enough to enjoy a Christmas market break in Bucharest last year and I was instantly charmed by the beauty and warmth of the Old Town. I found super flight deals departing Friday the 4th of December for just €108 return per person, and a three-night stay in the 4 Star Central aparthotel is just €120 per person.
Bucharest is one of the more affordable European capitals too, so I included a full day access to all areas of the Therme Spa – a place that went viral on TikTok recently. You can also take a day trip to Brașov and explore Dracula’s castle.
