Holidays in Cuba are like no other Caribbean holiday. Cuba’s history, people and landscape create a unique holiday experience that can only be understood when you visit. Not only is it the largest of the Caribbean Islands, its is arguably the most diverse. Havana, the capital, is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. A city that is renowned for its architecture and colourful old cars, offers so much more. The cafe culture is like nowhere else, and local artists are giving Havana a reputation for having a cool art scene, not in a Paris kind of way, more Boho style. Many old buildings have been rejuvenated housing trendy restaurants and bars; some still show signs of age and the effect of the US embargo but somehow this adds to the atmosphere of the city. After you have explored on foot, why not take a trip around Havana in a classic American car? At night time you can always try a little Salsa dancing or enjoy one of their famous mojitos – it has to be done!
Of course enjoy holidays in Cuba without visiting Havana at all. Let’s not forget Cuba has year round sunshine and the warm Caribbean sea. The picture postcard white sandy beaches of Varadero are worth the trip alone! One of the Caribbeans largest beach resorts, is also home to one of the best beaches, which measures a staggering 20km. With the advantage of having a local airport close to the resort centre, there is no need for lengthy airport transfers. You will find plenty of shops, bars, restaurants in typical resort style and over 60 hotels, most of which are all-inclusive resorts. If you just want to chill out on the beach for a week, this is the perfect place. However, there are still plenty of day trip possibilities. Memories Jibacoa offers the best of both worlds. Not only does it offer everything you need from an all-inclusive resort but also has the added advantage of being only 50 minutes from Havana. Situated in Jibacoa, this resort is situated on a beautiful sandy beach and also has a scenic mountainous backdrop. With four restaurants and five bars, as well as a host of facilities included in the price of your stay, this hotel receives great reviews on tripadvisor. This adult-only, all-inclusive resort is the perfect choice for couples looking to stay on the stunning Varadero beach. One of the reasons Cuba is such a fascinating country to visit is because you can expect the unexpected. The country is changing rapidly but there are many parts where you will feel you are back in time. Service, food and transport may not be what you are used to. Personally I think this adds somewhat to its charm and makes Cuba a country to visit before big change sets in following the easing of American sanctions by President Obama …. Go see it!
