With almost 300 hotels in Las Vegas spread across just 142 square miles, choosing the right one is not easy. Many look similar, are located close together and offer similar facilities! But that’s were I come in. Whether you are a first time visitor to Las Vegas, planning a family getaway, looking for a luxury escape, or hoping to experience the city’s famous nightlife and entertainment, I have rounded up the best hotels at the Las Vegas Strip, or very close to it, to suit every taste and budget.

Where to stay in Las Vegas

There is only one place to stay if you want to experience the true atmosphere of Las Vegas, and that is on, or next to, the Las Vegas Strip. However, it is important to know that the Strip is 4.2 miles (6.8km) long. The Strip stretches from the Strat Hotel in the north to the Mandalay Bay Hotel in the south.

While 4.2 miles might not sound particularly far, and you may assume it would take around an hour to walk from one end of the Strip to the other, in reality, it is likely to take closer to two hours! So if you see Vegas hotels recommended, be sure to check the map of hotels on Las Vegas strip to see exactly where they are located.

You will often need to walk through hotels, shopping complexes and casinos to reach your destination, as well as use pedestrian bridges to cross busy roads. In fact, one of my top tips for visiting Las Vegas is to ignore distances when making restaurant or attraction reservations. Getting from A to B almost always takes longer than you expect.

Although there is a monorail service, like many things in Las Vegas, it is not particularly cheap. We often found taxis to be the better option, especially when travelling as a group of four, as the cost was similar and far more convenient.

With this in mind, I highly recommend staying as close to the centre of the Strip if your budget allows. Getting around Las Vegas will save you a huge amount of time, as you will be within easy reach of many of the city’s top attractions, restaurants and shows.

There are other areas to stay, including Downtown Las Vegas, but for me there is no contest. Fremont Street, in the heart of Downtown, is well worth visiting to see where Las Vegas entertainment began and to experience the world’s largest LED canopy. However, the atmosphere here is completely different from the Strip, so if you are a first-time visitor, the Strip is the best place to stay in Las Vegas.

I visited many of the best hotels on the Las Vegas Strip and to be honest, I did not notice a huge difference between most of them. They are mostly enormous resort complexes, and in many cases you are greeted by a casino the moment you walk through the lobby doors.

My advice is simple: book a well-reviewed hotel in a central location and you are unlikely to go wrong. All of the hotels listed below are either on the strip, or a few minutes walk to it. I have also highlighted some of the best family Las Vegas hotels, pet-friendly hotels, and hotels in Las Vegas without casinos below, to help you find the right option for your stay.

Best 5 Star Hotels at the Las Vegas Strip

1. The Venetian Resort

Las Vegas is full of themed hotels, but in my view, no one does it better than The Venetian. As soon as you see the hotel, you cannot help but be amazed by the almost life-size replicas of St Mark’s Square’s Campanile and Rialto Bridge, which you can actually walk across!

Once you step inside, the wow factor continues. Frescoes adorn the walls and ceilings, while gondolas glide along the Grand Canal, offering rides through the heart of the resort.

This all-suite resort features newly remodelled, spacious accommodation, 11 outdoor pools and more than 40 restaurants, including the fabulous Smith & Wollensky steakhouse and the ever-popular TAO Las Vegas. We dined at Smith & Wollensky and watched the sky over the Grand Canal change colour as the evening went on. Guests can also enjoy complimentary access to the fitness facilities at Canyon Ranch Spa + Fitness.

Top Tip: If you want all the pizzazz of The Venetian, but in a more sophisticated setting, consider staying at the Palazzo. Connected to The Venetian, its spacious suites feature sunken living rooms, floor-to-ceiling windows and spectacular views of the Las Vegas Strip.

2. Bellagio

The Bellagio Hotel & Casino is one of the most famous hotels on the Strip of Las Vegas. Superbly located in the heart of the Strip and home to the iconic Bellagio Fountains, the hotel is an attraction in its own right. During my visit, I saw Cirque du Soleil’s “O” and spent some time exploring the beautiful Conservatory & Botanical Gardens.

Pinky Ring, Bruno Mars’ cocktail lounge, is also located here. The venue has a strict no-phone policy, adding to the intrigue, as Bruno Mars himself is known to drop in from time to time. Even if you do not spot him, the live music and excellent cocktails make it well worth a visit.

In typical Vegas style, there are five swimming pools and 18 restaurants on site. The Bellagio is considered to be one of the best Las Vegas hotels on the Strip, but I personally felt that the décor was a little dated, although the casino floor and spa are currently undergoing a major refurbishment.

3. Aria Resort & Casino

I had the pleasure of staying at Aria during my last visit to Las Vegas and loved its central location on the Strip. We stayed in a standard room, which was exceptionally spacious and featured floor-to-ceiling windows with fantastic views. For those seeking a more luxurious experience, the one and two-bedroom Sky Suites and stunning duplex Sky Villas are well worth considering.

With a 150,000-square-foot casino, 14 restaurants, three swimming pools and a luxurious spa, Aria has everything you would expect from one of the best five star hotels on Las Vegas Strip.

4. The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

The Cosmopolitan is one of the best Las Vegas hotels for couples or friends looking for a lively atmosphere. It is located beside the Aria in the heart of the Strip and we enjoyed a fabulous dinner here in Amaya, the hotel’s stylish modern Mexican restaurant.

I loved the buzz from the moment we walked through the doors. If I were returning to Las Vegas with friends, this is where I would choose to stay.

Accommodation ranges from Terrace Studios to spacious one-bedroom suites, many of which feature private outdoor terraces overlooking the Bellagio Fountains. These incredible views, combined with the hotel’s vibrant social scene, make it one of the best hotels in Vegas for partying.

There are two pool areas, including a rooftop pool, as well as 16 restaurants, a luxurious spa, fitness centre, tennis court and, of course, a casino. I am also reliably informed that Wicked Spoon serves one of the best breakfast and brunch buffets in Las Vegas.

5. Vdara Hotel & Spa

Located beside Aria in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, Vdara is an excellent choice if you are looking for 5 star hotels in Las Vegas without a casino. This all-suite hotel is both non-smoking and non-gaming, offering a calmer and more relaxed atmosphere than many of its neighbours. The two-storey spa further enhances its peaceful appeal.

The spacious suites, along with the private residences and condos, make Vdara particularly popular with families and anyone seeking luxury hotels in Las Vegas with a kitchen, dining area and self-catering facilities. There is also a rooftop pool, a stylish cocktail lounge and a Market Café on site. Better still, Vdara is one of the few pet-friendly hotels on the Las Vegas Strip.

6. Wynn & Encore Las Vegas

The Wynn is regarded by many as one of the best hotels in Las Vegas. While its location on the northern end of the Strip is not quite as convenient as some of the hotels listed above, it more than makes up for it with its luxury facilities and elegant surroundings. It is also located opposite the Fashion Show Mall, one of the best shopping destinations in Las Vegas, and even has Chanel and Louis Vuitton boutiques on site.

There are three oasis-style pools to choose from, including one that offers poolside blackjack. You will also find a luxurious spa, 15 restaurants and some of the most impressive accommodation on the Strip. As well as beautifully appointed rooms and suites, there are exclusive Fairway Villas overlooking the resort’s championship golf course, making this a great choice if you want to play golf in Las Vegas.

The resort is made up of two hotels, Wynn and Encore, each with its own distinct personality. Wynn is the larger and more lavish of the two, (check out the atrium floral displays above), while Encore is known for its spacious suites, floor-to-ceiling windows and slightly more relaxed atmosphere. That said, Encore is also home to two nightclubs, including the famous XS Nightclub, which surrounds Encore’s European-style pool.

7. Fontainebleau Las Vegas

The Fontainebleau Las Vegas is one of the newest hotels in Las Vegas, having opened its doors in December 2023. Despite being a relative newcomer, it has quickly established itself as one of the best luxury hotels in Las Vegas.

With an impressive pool complex and a remarkable 36 restaurants, there is no shortage of ways to relax and indulge. Its sleek, contemporary design, inspired by its iconic sister property in Miami, is a major draw for visitors. The luxury spa, yoga classes and quieter location provide a welcome escape from the energy of the Las Vegas Strip, while its position on the northern end of the Strip makes it a popular choice for those looking for Las Vegas hotels near convention centre.

The Fontainebleau is also the tallest hotel in Las Vegas, with stylish rooms and suites featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and spectacular views of the Strip.

8. Four Seasons Las Vegas

If you are looking for a luxury hotel in Las Vegas without the crowds and noise of a casino, the Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas is hard to beat. Occupying the upper floors of the Mandalay Bay Resort, this elegant, non-gaming, non-smoking hotel offers a peaceful retreat at the southern end of the Strip while still providing easy access to all the action.

Guests can enjoy a private outdoor pool, a world-class spa and exceptional service that the Four Seasons brand is renowned for. The former Mandarin Oriental has the wow factor as soon as you walk inside. It also boasts a super location in the centre of the Strip.

There are three restaurants and three pools, but the 23rd Floor Hard Shake is the place to go for cocktails and a lively atmosphere. All rooms offer views of the Strip or City and the two-floor spa is a big hit with guests.

10. Hilton Hotels at Resorts World

Resorts World Las Vegas is one of the largest integrated resorts on the Las Vegas Strip, combining three Hilton-branded hotels under one roof. Guests can choose between the 4-star Hilton Las Vegas, the upscale Conrad Las Vegas, or the luxurious 5-star Crockfords Las Vegas, depending on their budget and preferred style of stay.

The resort features an impressive pool complex, a world-class spa, a large casino, and more than 40 restaurants and bars. Dining options range from celebrity chef venues to the popular Famous Foods Street Eats food hall, offering cuisine from around the world.

You simply cannot miss the New York-New York Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip! You don’t have to look far to spot the 150-foot replica of the Statue of Liberty and the famous Big Apple Coaster, the world’s first roller coaster to feature a 180-degree twist and a 203-foot drop! Inside, you will find one of the Strip’s most popular casinos, along with 14 restaurants and bars.

The resort is particularly popular for casual dining, with favourites including Shake Shack, Broadway Burger Bar and Nine Fine Irishmen, an authentic Irish pub that was built in Ireland before being shipped to Las Vegas and reassembled on site.

12. Caesars Palace Hotel & Casino

Dining highlights include Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen and Ramsay Pub & Grill, as well as Brasserie B Parisian Steakhouse, where we had the pleasure of dining – the Spicy Bay Scallops Sophie, named after Bobby Flay’s daughter, were simply divine!

13. Paris Las Vegas Hotel

What’s not to love about the Paris Hotel. With a half-scale replica of the Eiffel Tower and a viewing deck on the 46th floor where you can catch the best views of the Las Vegas, its one of the most popular Vegas hotels on the strip.

Rooms have French décor, and with 12 restaurants, 9 bars,a casino, full service Spa and theatre it offers great amenities for a 4 star hotel on Las Vegas Strip.
